I Am John Galt is a hymn to free men, free minds and free markets. It's a loving look at the heroes who are living those values and moving the world forward. It's also a crushing no-holds-barred indictment of the parasites who are trying to destroy our world of freedom and prosperity.
|The Individualist: Steve Jobs as Howard Roark, the man who reinvented four industries just because it was so cool
|The Mad Collectivist: Paul Krugman as Ellsworth Toohey, the man who preaches socialism from the pages of Americas newspaper of record|
|The Leader: John Allison as John Galt, the man who walked away after building Americas strongest bank|
|The Parasite: Angelo Mozilo as James Taggart, the businessman who co-opted government and nearly wrecked the U.S. economy|
|The Persecuted Titan: Bill Gates as Henry Rearden, the businessman who created revolutionary technologies and was criminalized for his success|
|The Central Planner: Barney Frank as Wesley Mouch, the politician who meddled in the economy and almost destroyed it
|The Capitalist Champion: T. J. Rodgers as Francisco dAnconia, the modern Renaissance man, and agent provocateur for capitalism|
|The Sellout: Alan Greenspan as Robert Stadler, the libertarian who became an economic czar|
|The Economist of Liberty: Milton Friedman as Hugh Akston, the academic who showed the world the connection between capitalism and freedom|
Here's what my friend Arthur Laffer says about I Am John Galt: "Our world today is just like Ayn Rand's novels -- it's a battleground of ideas. We are watching play out a war of intrusive government, corrupt businessmen and sell-out economists versus the innovators, entrepreneurs and just plain working people who make the world grow. Don Luskin and Andrew Greta report from the front lines, showing that there are still great people achieving big things, standing defiantly against the enemies of growth."
Well, we are all Going Galt in one way or another, we will be forced into it by economic collapse. The next recession is just gathering storm right now, set off perhaps by European failures.

I like Don Luskin, but I don’t like his casting very much in some cases. I’ll probably still read the book though.
It looks good to those of us who trust real engineers more than fictitious ones. Thanks.
He instituted a personal responsibility system at Cypress Semiconductor.
Anyone late in signing off on documents gets their pay check stopped.
So TJ goes off to Tokyo with his VP's annual review docs on his desk.
Pay check stopped, credit card maxed out....mortgage payment not made....and stuck in Tokyo sans funds.
Funny, a couple of years ago I told him he should go for the John Galt part in the movie. I like his screen presence and pleasant, but authoritative way of speaking. He thanked me graciously.
Alan Greenspan is dead on.
Luskin is very good on Kudlow’s show IMO - just a little ting of sarcasm when necessary and is very authoritative indeed. Great command of his material.
