I guess I mean on OUR side. The best parallel would be when discussing GOP possible nominees - would Catholicism bring up as much divisiveness as Mormonism?
I don't know. But I wouldn't assume, based upon past conduct, that it wouldn't be a major issue.
Heckuva lot more Catholics than Mormons, and Catholicism has been around a lot longer than Mormonism, thus it is more legit in the eyes of most people.

When JFK ran for president many people said many of the same things they are saying now, pop will run the country, etc.
Didn't happen, and those who were saying those things were considered to be uncivil. Now a lack of civility is considered a virtue.
That said, I don't want Mitt can't we conservatives do better?

When Kennedy was running for president, the anti-catholic’s were quite vocal, but there was not internet, it was in the newspapers and on the tv news until he came out and said the pope would not be running the White house...it was ugly. Same as the anti-mormon threads are here, but like I say, there wasn’t an internet and we weren’t hit with it several times a day.
