How many times have you passed by a protest site and marveled at the dedication to come out and march for a cause. Even if you dont agree with protest you must feel a grudging respect to the volunteers who attend these events on their own time. That in itself is a small victory for the protesters to make the public aware of their cause. Would you feel differently if you found out that these are not volunteers but paid workers for a powerful organization? These protesters would not seem so noble anymore and the message would be diluted to the extreme. That is the difference between Grassroots and Astroturf.

If I don't agree with the protest I feel that the protestors should be shot as the parasitical, anti-American liberal scumbags that they are.
We should keep a few around for museums once they are all gone.
This article is a good example of citizen grassroots activism.
That was so funny when Breitbart confronted those union paid protesters. They had no idea what they were “protesting” or even what was written on their signs. When they were asked questions, they were quickly herded back into their bus, hurling homophobic epithets.
