I have a prepper friend who fears that the local police could become foragers if things get bad enough. (We refer to anyone who does this as bullies)

He worries that they will use the 'police shield' to gain entry and seize your/our supplies. (At what point do you resist the local police?)

We have discussed having a number of smaller supplies stashes instead of one big one so that all is not lost if we're raided.

Janet Napolitano Visits NYU Law School to Discuss Need For Citizen Spies (Video)

“We have to get to a place where every part of our society is cognizant of the kinds of threats that are out there, and empowered to take some common sense steps to counter that.” — Janet Napolitano

Homeland Security head, Janet Napolitano, continued her campus tour in a recent stop at NYU Law School where she gave a speech about the state of security as we approach the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and following the announced death of Osama bin Laden.

In the video below Napolitano lays out a sweeping surveillance agenda that includes citizen spies who have a mission of “shared responsibility” to thwart “Core” al-Qaeda, foreign groups “inspired by” al-Qaeda, as well as domestic “extremist” groups, which apparently include an increasing number of plots by U.S. citizens. She added that “there is no single portrait” of today’s potential terrorist, citing recruiting tactics “including Hip Hop videos, if you can imagine that.” And, naturally, cyberspace. Each of the four key ways that she stated as critical to Homeland Security’s mission will widen the Stasi-style network of unpaid employees of the State virtually deputized to spy on their neighbor in the private and public sector and issue reports to the DHS federal security matrix.

1. Strengthen the nation’s 72 fusion centers, which coordinate with local police, businesses, churches, universities and more in a cooperative effort to federalize local communities. [What does “federalize local communities” mean?]

2. Continue the expanded use of Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), initially used for IRS reporting and for businesses to alert government officials to large cash purchases at their establishments. The new initiative will cover all sectors that will share back to DHS.

3. Launch the National Terrorism Advisory System to replace the general color-coded terror alert system and set up a “base level” high risk, which will be augmented with specific messages. One component of this new system that she does not address is that it will be directed toward the individual by utilizing a text messaging system, as well as social networks to issue government statements and warnings (or propaganda).

4. Continue expansion of a national “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign that began with the NY Metropolitan Transit Authority, and kicked off at private businesses like Wal-Mart whereby people can receive ongoing messages via telescreens in government buildings, private businesses and public areas, then report on anyone for any reason without consequence for false reports.

She also predictably suggests that the counter-terrorism apparatus is a useful tool that can save citizens in need of rescue from natural disasters. More likely, it is the roll-out of soft martial law that will create a permanent state of fear, suspicion, false arrests, police brutality, and the end of the American republic in the same fashion that led to the end of every society that chose the path of security over freedom.

The USA has insufficient military and adjunct state & local police to impose martial law.

They would have to go on a major recruiting spree.

Other thoughts:

1. If you're gonna fight and possibly die, ALWAYS make sure you take at least one enemy combatant with you. ALWAYS.

2. Do not discuss your plans or preparations with ANYONE besides family members you can trust...and life-long friends. DO NOT make new friends.

3. Single men without wife and kids in the house should fight from the inception of Martial Law until their death. If necessary rig your house with explosives to ensure you achieve the primary edict #1 above.

If you gather with other men to fight, you will die.

Y2K. Nuff said.
The feds don’t have the manpower and they can’t count on the locals. If you live in a big city, you are already close to it now and if you are a “prepper”, you don’t have any business living there.

I would worry more about how I am going to eat all that food before it spoils and less about the boogyman.

Buy ammo. And, do it correctly.....I have a few friends who still don't get it, ie: when I ask, "how much ammo do you have on hand?" I get a few answers of : Got plenty, plus 14 guns in the closet. Have 3 or 4 boxes of 12 ga, a couple for my kids .410, couple of boxes each for my 6 rifles, and a bunch of partial boxes for all my hand guns. I tell them that's fine if they can stay in the house and shoot out the windows, B-U-T if they need to run outside and shoot from behind the car or garage, they may find themselves in the do-do. One can only carry a couple of long guns (of different calibers) and a couple of handguns while on the run, along with their ammo. You shoot up those 3 - 20 round boxes of .30/06, 4 boxes of 7mm, 3 boxes of .45 ACP and you no longer have 3 guns....just 3 clubs.

Designate one shotgun, one rifle and one handgun as your primary "social unrest" home defense weapons and load up on the ammo for them. Having 20 guns doesn't do you any good if all you have is a few rounds for each. Kinda hard to watch out the FRONT living room window where the armed looters are moving around and dig through the BACK bedroom closet for more ammo. ("I KNOW I have at least a half box of .270 somewhere from last deer season......where the hell is it ???").

If you can't afford lots of expensive high caliber ammo, get a few bricks of .22 ammo. 300 rounds flying out that window from your .22 rifle and pistol may not drop a 250 lb man, but a wound in the arm with a .22 will slow him down, take him off the attack and put HIM on defense. Plus, with a bucket of .22 ammo, your wife and kid can easily load one gun while you shot the other.

Nonsense. Martial law is a non-starter to this administration for one simple reason: it would be harder on their supporters than their opponents.

Look for a hybrid analogous to our current method of waging war as opposed to “declaring” war. It’s much easier to cheat by new tools than convince those who recognize your old tools they’re not being cheated.

Bandera County Sheriff’s Office Issues Domestic Terrorism Warning ___ Law Enforcement Agency Concerned Radical Anti-Government Groups May Be Moving Into Area

(June 9th): The law enforcement agency said followers of The Sovereign Citizens Movement have been known to carry out violent acts, including killing law enforcement officers and other public servants.

The sheriff’s office told KSAT-12 News the warning was prompted by the recent shooting death of Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Kenneth Vann.

“We have domestic terrorism right at our doorstep,” said Capt. Charlie Hicks of the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office.

Hicks said while there’s NO EVIDENCE Vann’s death had any links to the Sovereign Citizens, it’s the same type of crime followers are known for.

If martial law is declared, IEDs, L type ambushes, snipings for anyone trying to enforce it, as well as their immediate families. They sure as spit aren't going to spare yours. You can brew up napalm with gasoline, laundry soap and diesel... Then, Fougasse in a metal can, with a lifting charge.

It will be interesting to see which skinheads are Oathtakers and who is an Oathbreaker and what an Oathbreaker looks like on fire...

Martial law logistically for the United States would be impossible IMO. A specific area, okay. But the number of ports, airports/fields, etc compared to numbers of police, military across country? Not happening. Unless a foreign force(s) were brought in.

Tyrannical moves are being usually under the radar in isolated instances (in contrast to impotent TSA goons groping nationwide), which thankfully are being broadcast in the new media internet... like SWAT killing the former Marine Guerena in Arizona; SWAT breaking into house of parent who’s estranged wife defaulted on a student loan

http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2011/06/sooner-or-later-some-federal-doe-thugs.html

TSA doing a random bag check at railway station in Georgia and pat downs at prom in Arizona; police in Chicago on North street beach doing random bag searches; etc.

Militarization of police and SWAT, which was never intended for that role, violation of Constitutional rights on the increase... Clearly government was getting ready for a fight year ago when they ordered all that .40 caliber handgun ammo, 5.56 ammo carbine ammo, and shotguns for federal agencies.

Any attempt at house to house search, confiscations is open season guerrilla warfare. Targets include local police and support staff like dispatchers, the suits who decreed such tyranny. Obviously sitting trying to defend one’s house from response team with full auto arms, flash bang grenades, armored personnel carriers, is a bad situation with odds against you, plus one wants anonymity.

If you’ve read Total Resistance, then you know it’s necessary to inflict causalities and fight back so that the opposing force must consolidate, provide additional manpower for a security element and that leaves a larger grid pattern over your area so you and others can roam more freely.

To not act — the grid pattern becomes much smaller with opposing forces creating stations at major junctions, more checkpoints, and eventually the informer network will start. No freedom of movement and you will be flushed out.

Being near Chicagoland, plenty of prepping in order here. The recent rat pack mobs running loose foreshadow a larger descent into full blown upheaval in Chicago if there were a natural or man-made disaster — there aren’t enough police. In addition, an armed civilian defending oneself wiping out a few thugs could ignite rioting if not charged by city. So political, cultural, moral clashes besides tyrannical in a nation loaded with gang culture and arrested development youth.

I am posting this vanity to take the pulse of fellow Freepers regarding the possibility of martial law being imposed,

It hasn't been designated as *martial law* in US military leadership classes for more than a decade. It's now known more precisely as military rule or military government.

>>And: “Those instituting martial law will be looking for people to make examples of in order to quell any type of uprising or protest from the rest of the sheep. Harsh reprisals at the inception of martial law will keep the masses cowed and controlled.” <<

Now is as good as time as any to bring the subject of SWAT team tactics up with your mayors and town councilors. Grab a friend, make an appointment and go do it.

IMO, it should be common knowledge where our city, state and federal officials live. Yes, the county bureaucrats, the local, state and federal police officers, every single one of them. Let’s remove the cloak of anonymity from these public officials! They work for us, remember?

It is not difficult to make someone live in fear for their lives as many of you already know. Making our elected local, county, state or federal officials acutely aware of that feeling is not a popular idea but I assure you after once having that taste in your mouth, it is not one quickly forgotten. Why should we be the ones who fear them if we are not criminals? Don’t go after them in their protected offices when their homes and families are as vulnerable as ours are.

If our LEO’s or military troops under the orders of our elected officials ever administer violence to US citizens then I believe it should be returned in equal force to their superiors families.

I promise you that a single bullet through the kitchen window of the Mayors house will make for an excited dinner conversation with his wife that evening. The Mayor will then understand exactly what he did when he ordered violence against his townspeople.

The Chief of Police’s wife wouldn’t hesitate to explain in detail to her husband what a wonderful job he’s doing if her home were to receive a copper jacketed message through the front door.

WTSHTF, you’ll want to be in a gang. Gangs offer protection and stiffen your spine to fight back more effectively. Gangs will form naturally, but existing gangs or associations with a plan will have an advantage.

I know this article is months old, but after listening to Beck this morning, the possibility of martial law may be more relevant than ever. IF, that is, Beck is even close to being correct about what he’s saying today. Just listening to him depresses the heck outta me. Years back, I remember hearing the same thing about Clinton. He wouldn’t just step down after his 2nd term and declare martial law. I bit on the thought a little but we all know the outcome of that.

If martial law were to occur here in the US, I wonder how bad would it really be? Those that decided not to give in who would the fight be against?
