My new freedom-oriented novel is out.

My new novel is out. As with all of my writing, it's about the attempt to live free in a world that is creeping steadily towards tyranny.

Matt,

I read this on my Kindle last month, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. You have a real gift for storytelling and writing, and I hope you continue.

I have been wanting to get your books. Which one do you recommend for first time readers of your writings? I will put this one on my wish list at Amazon. Good luck!!

The other three, Enemies Foreign and Domestic, Domestic Enemies -- The Reconquista, and Foreign Enemies and Traitors are all part of the same story line and share a lot of characters. Of that group, you have to read EFAD first. You could read the DETR and FEAT in whatever order you like (both stories stand on their own without having read the other), except that DETR comes first on the timeline and so FEAT would have some slight spoilers in it if you still intended to read DETR.

Castigo Cay isn't part of that plotline and really doens't have any connection to the other books, so it can be read in any order.

That’s awesome! Kilmer is by far your most loveable character and an excellent central character. I can discern a lot about your own experiences through him. Reminds me a lot of my buddy Allan, God rest his soul.

He did 5 tours in Iraq as a Sgt. in the USMC. Never wanted to leave, came back home, couldn’t adjust, and took his own life one morning after breakfast. I miss him greatly, and this story would’ve made him proud.

Thank you, Matt!

I see it’s available for Kindle. Looks like I’ll be downloading it for Father’s Day!

So when is the version for the iPad coming out? $;-)

Great read, Matt. It's really engaging -- one of those books where you've been reading for a while and it's getting late, and you tell yourself "I'll stop at the end of this chapter." By the end of which you continue on because you just have to know what happens next.

This book would make a great movie.

I downloaded it to Kindle last week already and have been reading it - spellbinding, absolutely spellbinding stuff.
Again, like your EF&D series, the scenario is well researched and scary plausible.
It is my bed-time reading and I have to force myself to stop and go to bed, so I can get a decent night’s sleep.
I used to be a prolific reader many years ago, and just recently acquired a Kindle to take up my old hobbie again.
And Matt Bracken’s writing is addictive.

I read the first three and they really are pretty good. One thing I noticed is I kept going back and reading a bit more because I wanted to find out what happened to the characters.

I had to fight the urge to skip ahead. I have just about quit reading books now but am glad I made an exception with these.

Another thing I liked about them is I learn a lot about technology which I was unaware of.

One interesting thing to me is I had formed a mental picture of one of the villains, in fact it was so strong that I really could see his face, but then it did not match the description later given in the book. I had him pictured much uglier.

I just ordered my hardcopy. I wish it came with a free Kindle copy. I want it on my shelf when I am done but would enjoy the freedom of having an electronic version. Obviously, such enjoyment has a value to me of less than ten dollars.

This book would make a great movie.

Not really. Every time I turn a page, the popcorn falls on the floor. And if the light is turned up bright enough to read, it kind of takes the romance out of making out in the back row seats.

Despite the differences in their ages and military service, I somehow think that Dan Kilmer and Brad Fallon would have gotten along and liked each other.

You've done your namesake proud. I can just about see him at Slip F-18 at Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Loo, laying back on a lawn chair on the deck and eagerly reading CC, laughing his head off.

That's so very sad about your buddy Allan.

It makes the dedication page of Castigo Cay that much more poignant.

Yep, this one would be sized just right for a feature length film.

It'll never happen though, not in today's PC America.

That film will only run in the Theater of the Mind.
