Sounds good at a very general level. What SPECIFICALLY do you intend to do to make them give it all back. What, for instance, do you plan to do with California?

The GOP is not an empowered majority, they hold 1/2 of one branch of the legislative branch. And 1/2 f them are RINOS and they don’t seem to be able to use that perch effectively.

What, EXACTLY, are you willing to do to fix the USA? Seccessin seems more plausible than what it would really take to fix America in the way you suggest.

Go back and see how Chile dealt with their leftists in power. Military Coup followed by two decades of death squads that killed labor leaders, leftists, radical priests, opposing party members who got carried away, and anyone else they deemed a threat.

Chile is the least leftist country in SA as a result, probably not likely to be the next Venezeula.

That’s the only working example I can see. You say we’re tough when backed into a corner. Really? We’re there, aren’t we? Where is the toughness?? I don’t see it.

You know what else seems to be an underlying speedbump to this idea...

They don’t think there is enough resistance or guts to go through with it if they push too much...They honestly and foolishly believe we won’t fight back...

Of course at first we are doing it within the system, doing it every two years, we get a chance to change things within the system...That’s the trenches we live in now...

Like I’ve always said...No matter what happens, the sun will still come up and set everyday...How our day goes is up to us...

And to those on this very website (and this thread), I believe that do not want to do anything to upset their own personal applecarts and fight to keep their personal bubbles intact, until it is too late...I wish them well in their mediocrity...

First of all, you’re right that IS very general - bascially because it isn’t really a great nor smart idea to say publically “What SPECIFICALLY” or “EXACTLY” do you intend to do...”, etc. Especially on a forum that is trolled daily by the other side and various alphabet agencies looking for any excuse to do a 4am flashbang boogie.

We ALL know exactly what it will take. And yes, the will to do those things necessary is the key factor. I’ll do whatever is required of me when the time comes. Those that have been preparing ahead of time already know what they’ll need to do.

As far as secession goes - again, why the hell should WE leave? We’re not the ones F***ing the country up.

I don’t pretend to have the answers, Jack; I only know that I’m not going anywhere. This is MY home, this is MY land, and I’ll not give it up.

As far as Chile goes, I know history, brother. And they did to the Left what the Left was eventually going to do to them. Do you seriously believe the US military would do a coup de tat on this admin? If they haven’t by now, with all the crap that this shoeshine boy has foisted on them, it’s just not going to happen.

RE Tough: Look in the eyes of some of the folks at Tea Party meetups. It’s there. It takes guts for people who’ve never organized before to show up at these things. And for those who are “awake” and really know what’s going on, it’s our job to educate those who DO show up and wake them up too.

And look in the eyes of folks that you should be training with. It’s there too. You should by now already know who you can and can’t trust to be tough when the SHTF.

No, I don’t think we’re backed in the corner - yet. The system is still workable. Election day 2012 will show whether we’re backed in the corner or not, to my mind.

We’re on the same side, bro. Just seeing it differently.

Is advocating secession even allowed on Free Republic?

That’s a serious question. I’ve been reading here for a long time, though not participating in discussions much until recently, and I thought I remembered a ban on advocating secession, but I could be wrong. Perhaps Jim Robinson can clarify his rules.

For whatever it’s worth, I believe secession is neither prudent, possible, or helpful. Give the liberals enough time to wreck the economies of their states and cities, and much of their political power will disappear, just as happened with the former Soviet Union.

Under current political conditions, the most likely secession we’ll deal with in the foreseeable future would be the crazies in California who want to create “Greater Azatlan” or some such nonsense by recovering their Mexican heritage. That’s not very likely but it’s much more likely than a conservative secession. Letting the California crazies secede to join Mexico or start a new country might not be a bad idea — presuming they have the votes to do so and are willing to accept a division of the state comparable to the West Virginia precedent allowing counties that want to stay in the United States to do so.

If you go back and read the comments from various Freepers I don't think anyone really took the authors side and came out for secession strongly.

When a topic gets to the point of being widely discussed in the news then we are going to post it and talk about it. Walter Williams wrote a similar article about 6 years ago called "Time for a Divorce", it was published and widely discussed here.

I don't think merely discussing a well written, if ideologicaly flawed article really merits either your concern for me violating rules and subsequent flagging of the owner, nor Patrick1's sarcastic and insulting comments.

Hopefully one aspect of being a conservative is allowing other people to discuss topics you may not personally enthusiastic about as long as they are maintaining decorum, as I believe all the posters did on this thread.

Not a problem... my question was not flippant but serious, namely, whether this is a topic on which discussion is even allowed.

If discussion is allowed, fine. I have no problem with that. I have opinions but I hesitated to get into the discussion if it violated Free Republic rules and wanted to ask first.
