We experienced our first smash and grab in Palo Alto last month. We think the thief saw our son put his book bag in the car. Unfortunately it also contained his computer. Fortunately he was interrupted by someone who also got a partial plate number and the police caught the guy. He had stolen goods with him, just not ours. We think it was a crime of opportunity. Wonder how many people out there are just waiting for us to stop paying attention so they can steal from us.....
