Nadin must have gotten her degree online for $20...or maybe $15 with a coupon! PJ might know about something like this.

I, good sir, beg to differ. The aliens would come and stay because we have rockin' music and Earth chicks are easy.

The DUmmies are a stoned based non-civilization.

Just because you want to believe in aliens, does not make them exist.

[DUmmie provis99, YOU win today's Kewpie Doll, for this Brief Moment of Mental Clarity® that is like a lone cogent thought rattling around in Nadin's big empty skull of a thread!]

Here is a nice little assortment...maybe he CAN have more than one. :)

Thank you. I just love Know-it-all-Nadin. She is so condescending and stupid. You have to love it.

OTOH, she just might be an alien herself - look at her name.

“nadinbrzezinski”

Looks like the sound a flying saucer would make when one of its spark plugs comes out of its socket...

Least we all forget:

The Drake equation states that:

where: N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible; and R* = the average rate of star formation per year in our galaxy fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets fℓ = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space L = the length of time for which such civilizations release detectable signals into space.[3]

Nice to see another eschatology reference Charles!

This posting by Nadin seems more akin to the drunken rantings of a denizen of a Boston bar. I’m surprised there weren’t more DUmmies consigned to the ignore list. Perhaps the Nadin haters have grown weary even at the DUmp.

Who says they're alien? They could be earthlings but evolved and doing backward time travel.
Wow. Who'd a thunk it.
That's the most intelligent thing (read: plausible) on the whole thread.

And by a DUmmie no less.
(Gotta be from a; LOUSY FREEPER TROLL)

This fool immediately lost credibility by claiming the Drake Equation as “science.”

I disagree. Nadin didn't have any credibility to lose.

Let's assume for a second that ET actually comes and lands in front of insert home of head of government here... you know the famous take me to your leader scenario.

[ET will land in DUmmieland and say "Take me to Head DUmmie Skinner!" No, better yet, "Take me to NADIN!"]

Don't worry DUmmies, Dennis Kook spinach will be there in person to greet them.

I suspect we will create other intelligences before we find any in space.

[Start working on that right there in DUmmieland.]

Well, if we do create intelligence, it won't be found at the DUmp.

Hell they are even taking a third look at Mars now, but I am sure you did not realize that either... By the way, good bye...

[To the iggy list with you, provis99! Nadin is DONE with you!]

Queen Shiela Jackson Lee (d) TX thinks we have been there before.

Worst case scenario, they'd have mastered telepathy and could just paralyze our asses on the spot.

[ben says, "I, for one, WELCOME our alien overlords!"]

I hope the aliens use telepathy and install some common sense into the DUmmies.

So let me propose a scenario... NOT BASED ON ACTUAL SCIENCE beyond the Drake Equation...

From : Conclusion:

Criticism of the Drake equation follows mostly from the observation that several terms in the equation are largely or entirely based on conjecture. Thus the equation cannot be used to draw firm conclusions of any kind. As T.J. Nelson states:[24]

The Drake equation consists of a large number of probabilities multiplied together. Since each factor is guaranteed to be somewhere between 0 and 1, the result is also guaranteed to be a reasonable-looking number between 0 and 1. Unfortunately, all the probabilities are completely unknown, making the result worse than useless.

Likewise, in a 2003 lecture at Caltech, Michael Crichton, a science fiction author, stated:[25]

The problem, of course, is that none of the terms can be known, and most cannot even be estimated. The only way to work the equation is to fill in with guesses. [...] As a result, the Drake equation can have any value from "billions and billions" to zero. An expression that can mean anything means nothing. Speaking precisely, the Drake equation is literally meaningless...

Another objection is that the very form of the Drake equation assumes that civilizations arise and then die out within their original solar systems. If interstellar colonization is possible, then this assumption is invalid, and the equations of population dynamics would apply instead.[26]

One reply to such criticisms[27] is that even though the Drake equation currently involves speculation about unmeasured parameters, it was not meant to be science, but intended as a way to stimulate dialogue on these topics. Then the focus becomes how to proceed experimentally. Indeed, Drake originally formulated the equation merely as an agenda for discussion at the Green Bank conference.[28]

What they didn't factor in to this conclusion is that our nadinbrzezinski is from another planet and knows better than all...
