Independence from England.... I wish the US hadn't. We'd have a national health plan.

Well Obamacare comes close but you really, really, really wanna remain healthy see?. Oh and brush your teeth very well for that British style health plan.

You left out the part about human sacrifices and eating hearts.

Very important!

And, tortillas and chocolate.

There, all done.

Among all the condemnation, there should be at least the minor point that the historical fact in this case doesn't matter f*** all to the lives of most people, and that people will tend to focus their mental energy and memory on Sh*t that Matters to Their Lives.

Eff yeh dude---like American Idol, Lady Gaga and Jerry Springer re-runs. Effin rich screwing up the country then and sheet now.

I found this on an old blog. It’s an actual post from DU right after the 2000 election. I reread it earlier today and just howled:

Me-From an unnamed poster at dunderground

>What we MUST realize in order to win - Americans are stupid and uninformed

Me (This from those who believe that an IQ of 70 is above average.)

>This is very important because in order to win we must understand the way the average American thinks. I’m afraid WE have nothing in common with them.

>I came to the two following conclusions when I saw the large number of people who voted for Bush back in 2000.

>#1 - I would dare to assume that most of us here are in the upper 1%-20% of the population intelligence-wise. We must come to the realization that the majority of the population is in the lower 80% to 99% percent of the bell-curve. WE are not the norm. The Republicans understand that the average American is not very bright. They cater and pander to the masses. The Democratic Party tries to appeal to the population about “issues” that these people just don’t understand.

Me (Are you gagging yet?)

>I’ve heard it said that the reason that Clinton’s sex scandal resonated so strongly among “the people” was because it was a scandal that the average American understood. The average person can’t understand a financial scandal.

>In addition, people of average or lower intelligence tend to not be as logical or reasoned as those of higher intelligence - they deal with emotion. Therefore they are more likely to get riled up about someone burning a flag rather than a illogical tax cut.

>#2 - The majority of people do not read the newspaper OR listen to the news, CNN, etc. Therefore -they get their news from the Tonight Show, Letterman, Oprah and Saturday Night Live. Or, they get their news from talking to their co-workers at the water cooler.

>Also, for the few people who DO listen to the news - who do they hear it from? Fox News and Bill O’Reilly are the most popular. Most newspapers and media outlets are owned by Republicans.

Me (Oh yeah. Like Viacom, Ted Turner, NYT, LAT, Chi. Tribune, Wash. Post, etc, etc.)

>THIS is what we are fighting against people. In order to win we will need to start pandering to the masses.
***************************************************

These people are supernaturally stupid.

The more I read Dummie Funnies the more I grieve for this country. The fact that someone could say that historical fact doesn’t matter to the lives of most people just makes me dizzy. For example, what if the historical fact was that the English never colonized the Americas, or that the Nazis won WWII, or the Soviets the cold war? Would their lives be different? Would the historical facts have an affect on their lives? It seems to me that this goes beyond ignorance to the land of the terminally stupid.

What we have to contend with is that Libs, Progressives, Communists, regardless of their self-identifiers, are too stupid to realize where they place on the Bell Curve.
Numbers confuse them, and if they don't like their IQ scores they whine about how the test is somehow "biased."

Were I a big fan of eugenics, I would say that, thanks to medical advances, we are enabling the Living who are Unworthy of Life.

The genetically lobotomized, your standard democrat, are pushed ahead in the educational sausage factory. Ever dig into the statistics of American illiteracy, and it's distribution in urban environments? One would think that would be a fertile field for some cultural anthropology major. If I wanted a PHD in some useless field, this would be a slam dunk thesis, until the head of the department threw you into the ovens for unforgivable anti-PC.

"Students from low-income backgrounds perform significantly lower in reading and writing achievement than students from higher income families, and African American and Latino students consistently score lower in reading and writing than Caucasian students. This pattern applies across grade levels tested and in every state in the United States that participated in NAEP from 1992 through 2003." (http://www.epals.com/images/tour/RTarticle.pdf)

Ever noticed that the Worker, the drone bee who is barely capable enough to put a nut on a bolt, always votes for the union, "to make things equal" and drag down instead of elevating?

The whole concept of modern organized labor is to act as a barrier to Darwinian employers thinning the herd to maximize profit. Numerical seniority, shop stewards to act as a buffer, and hide the grotesquely incompetent, inflated wages to allow for increased union dues.
