Seems to me that if the gulf was that wide, they wouldn’t have gotten together if everyone was honest.
My last girlfriend was a McCain supporting moderate but I knew that going in. Fortunately there were plenty of extremists in her family for me to talk politics with.
I can deal with extremists; at least I know what they are.
