BTW, Bernie fabricates his strawman in partially quoting Madison: "Here’s what James Madison, one of the authors of the Constitution, had to say on the subject (the subject of merely citizenship, not natural born citizenship, Bernie, you servant of the lie) in a speech before the House of Representatives in May 1789 ...'. The debate to which Madison spoke was over what defines citizen, not what defines natural born citizen. See, even Bernard has to dissemble in service to the great lie. If the Constitutional requirement for President were merely citizenship, the authors of the Constitution would not have included their exception clause for themselves.

Those people would be citizens, not natural born citizens. That’s not just what they were afraid of.

Yeah...I've heard that argument before. That a citizen of a republic and a subject to the British crown were interchangeable terms.

I believe the mere notion would have been offensive to the founders.

Our form of government in 1787 was different than that of the English monarchy. Our three branches of govt and bill of rights far more closely resemble the ideals found in the Law of Nations.

Dr. Franklin tells us of its importance when raising a state.

And yes...if Sr wasnt his legal father at birth then chances are (depending upon who his parents really were) he very well could be a natural born citizen.

He'd have a whole host of other legal issues then. Like taking his multiple oaths of office under a false name...the forged government doc he displays on the white house site...etc.

After the Kenyan birth theory degenerated into low farce, the goal posts were moved to substitute the Natural Born Citizen theory.

The old-time Bircher conspiracy theorists pale in comparison to the new generation of ding-dongs.

GRAY, J., Opinion of the Court

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES

169 U.S. 649
United States v. Wong Kim Ark
APPEAL FROM THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
No. 18 Argued: March 5, 8, 1897 -— Decided: March 28, 1898

P. 20.

“The right of citizenship never descends in the legal sense, either by the common law or under the common naturalization acts. It is incident to birth in the country, or it is given personally by statute. The child of an alien, if born in the country, is as much a citizen as the natural born child of a citizen, and by operation of the same principle. [p666] “

This stated that the child of an alien was no less a citizen than the “natural born child of a citizen”. But it does not say that the “child of an alien” WAS a “natural born citizen”. It only said the child WAS “a citizen”.

You might also note that Gray used the highest standard—natural born citizen- when making his comparison ... and that from a man appointed by the only other previously non-natural born citizen pResident, Chester A. Arthur.

“Certainly Vattel’s concept of “les Naturels ou indigènes” was further outside our traditions”

Alexander Porter Morse wrote les Naturels is natural born...born to citizen parents.

Yep, he understood clearly what the Constitution required, as did the framers of the Constitution.

It was clear then and only unclear now because of contempt for the Constitution by the deceptive Leftist and Globalists who wish to see the U.S. destroyed.

All Congressmen and Senators take oaths promising to “Protect and Defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic.

“I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

It's nice to know that someone like Goldberg, who earned his conservative credentials by exposing the liberal bias at CBS... even he will throw in the towel when the delaying tactics are played out long enough.

It makes me wonder what the next crisis issue might be that Goldberg will eventually give in to from attrition tactics?

Duh, wimps like Bernard Goldberg get fatigued easy on tough intellectual issues like dual citizenship.

I have zero respect for any natural born citizen who is getting fatigued over Obama’s birth certificate scandal.

FYI - Obama’s father was born in Kenya and died in Kenya, as a Kenyan.

Can you name any actual constitutional cases in which Coulter was counsel of record and prevailed? Just curious.

So your personal impression (based on what exactly?) trumps what the actual framers meant?

Not true and quite ignorant. Actually the change from “subject” to “citizen” was very significant. The most prominent authority in the U. S. at the time on Blackstone was St. George Tucker, who in his Ameican edition of Blackstone included domments at the end explaining where the Constitution varied from the common law concepts of Blackstone and he directly disagreed with what you say. Yet you somehow are a weightier authority on the point. Somehow I don’t think so.

Your comment is directly at odds with what Justice Scalia has said in colloquy in recent years. But then you clearly are more authoritative then he.

Fox News has been almost entirely on the wrong side of this. I think they are being blackmailed or threatened.

So, this guy thinks if the Dems commit a treasonous crime and nominate a Kenyan illegal alien for President, the Republicans should commit a crime too?

Frankly, the Republicans have been doing that sort of thing too long already, playing “me too” with the Democrats. That’s why our country is where it is, on the edge of destruction.
