Boehner has now made commitments and statements before millions of people. That fact alone may stiffen his resolve not to cave. He is aware of the knocks he has taken painting him as a big, wishy-washy crybaby and may see this as a chance to prove himself a steadfast leader.

Not to mention he got called out pretty good yesterday by the Failure in Chief which for most men would stiffen your spine. He has the momentum now and could win this battle.
