Finding Baptist Church Tulsa OK
Today | Ben Kenobi

Posted on 08/07/2011 10:54:37 AM PDT by BenKenobi

This is my first thread started here. I have a friend of mine in Tulsa OK who is leaving his Methodist Church because of a female pastor. He is looking for a more conservative Baptist Church in the Tulsa area.

I would like a recommendation from FReepers who are in the area so that I can help my friend.

Thank you very much for your time!

Then let your friend figure it our on his own. This is a public forum where people are anonymous unless they choose otherwise. I’m sorry I wasted brain power by wanting to help. Moving on.

MAYBE...just maybe——he needs to give HER a chance! The best pastor I ever had was a female....they are much more nurturing & understanding than most men in the same position! He may just be dissatisfied anyway you ‘fix’ it!
Get a grip!!!

This scripture that you quote is just PART of the entire chapter (and even the book of Timothy!)Since you quote the Bible, I assume that you must be knowledgable of the Bible teachings & writings. So, then, you must know that this was Paul talking to Timothy. And Paul also used women as pastors as he traveled & appointed people to help him. In the whole realm of it all-—what difference does it make if you have someone preaching God’s word & doing his work—whether they are male or female?????

I agree with Kenobi. If you don’t like what’s being discussed, then quite frankly stay out of this discussion.

Look for a church associated with the Southern Baptist.

Female pastors is only the tip of the iceberg. The Methodists have gone uber liberal. They United Methodists have accepted homosexuality as normal. They have accepted homosexual marriage and have said that they will perform same sex marriage with homosexual pastors performing the ceremonies. The UM churches are lousy with left wingers.

Show us a female pastor/elder/bishop from the bible, please. Especially where Paul used woman pastors. As for the context of II Timothy, I understand it. Would you take heed of more scripture then?

1Co 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

If you disagree with Paul, that is one thing. You reject scripture. If your claim is that I don’t understand scripture, enlighten me.

Yeah, well, if she’s preaching something other than the Bible, I’d say it’s a good move. There’s nothing worse than being spiritually led astray.

I would disagree with the statement that he won’t get a warm acceptance. No baptist church (except maybe Westboro) will prohibit someone from attending or participating in corporate worship. Most baptist churches, historically, have restricted the Lord’s Supper to members, although this has changed greatly. As far as joining the church, there are biblical requirements, such as having received Christ and being baptized biblically, by immersion, as this is the first step of obedience in the life of a Christian.

Of course, it depends on which church he goes to. As Baptists believe in the autonomy of the local church under Christ, there is great variety.

You need to understand what was happening in Corinth when Paul wrote these words...

Corinth was an undisciplined body of believers. They screwed up the Lords Supper and Paul had to get after them for that. They screwed up on prophecy and tongues, and Paul had to get after them for that. The women in the church sat there jabbering and gossiping during the meeting. And the scripture you quoted was Paul telling them to ‘Shut Up!’...it had nothing to do with whether women should teach or participate vocally in any church gathering.

I am not rejecting Scripture with my comments, I am challenging one of the erroneous applications/misinterpretations of Scripture.

Should we go to the requirements for a pastor? Hard for a woman to be the husband of one wife. Please provide scripture allowing women to pastor a church.

Good for you. Do it elsewhere.

Why, because you are the “superior authority” who does not agree with my comment? Who made you infallible? Who made you Pope? I did not see the smoke from the window...

I am not advocating that women should pastor churches...there are other passages of scripture that support not having women pastors. I was challenging the application of Paul’s teaching to the Corinthians as being an applicable passage for that. What I said is correct. It is not wrong for women to prophesy, nor is it wrong for them to pray...even in a public setting. What Paul told the Corinth women was to ‘Shut Up’...they were disrupting the meeting.

Personally, I will not attend a church where the pastor is a woman...I have know a few...in general they are shallow...there is no evidence of an ‘anointing’ for their ‘ministry’...To do so would mean that I as a man would have to subject myself to a woman, contrary to all Scriptural teaching.

Because I posted this for a friend to assist him finding a good baptish church.

That a protestant would troll a thread trying to help a fellow protestant speaks volumes as to where your heart stands in all this.

You have a problem with churches rejecting your desire to have female pastors, start your own thread, don’t pollute this one.

You may not put words into my mouth. I spoke none of what you are suggesting. Your agenda, whatever it is is wrong and you are apparently incapable of any kind of a reasonable discussion. Just keep your comments to yourself and stop telling untruths about what I did or did not say. You have poluted your own thread in a rather obscene way.
