Not only the current administration, but our congress, as well!
Passing unconstitutional legislation (HealthCare bill, and others), refusing to fulfill the basic requirements of the Constitution (protect our borders, etc)
How can we expect our military to fulfill their oaths when our Administration/Judicial/Congress pay no heed to theirs?
For that matter, hasn’t a contract with us, the citizens, who are expected to obey, been broken?
Just wondering, in my dotage.
This is the oath an officer takes:
I (insert name), having been appointed a (insert rank) in the U.S. Army under the conditions indicated in this document, do accept such appointment and do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.
This is the oath enlisted personnel take:
I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. (emphasis added)
The idea that an enlisted man's oath allows, much less requires, him to refuse to follow orders to show up for work, is prepostorous.
