I agree that we are too far gone. We are awash in multiculturism, generational entitlement cultures, and now it seems the beginnings of outright racial conflict, no matter how the media and the politicians try to spin it.

We have MILLIONS of able bodied in this country who have never worked an honest days work in their life and neither did their parents. Nor will their children. They do not have a work ethic to pass on nor did they receive one. They have learned to live on the forced charity (taxes) of others while demanding even more. Their ethics and mores are completely the polar opposite for a successful society. Adopting it or even acknowledging it is folly and has been the undoing of many.

We have allowed ourselves to be invaded by foreign cultures and religious cults who have absolutely no intention of leaving or assimilating. In fact, they contain revolutionaries whose express desire and mission is to bring this nation low.

The present and near future are lost, it’s time to think how the face of the nation will look after the great upheaval. I expect that everything we know will change. Whatever may come, we MUST remember how we got here and NEVER fail again.

Too late you ask… America didn’t become the greatest country on earth by itself. Faith and prayer in ‘The Almighty’ brought His gifts upon us. By His rewards the United States of America became what she … was.

Remember we live in a fallen world, Satan’s world. It’s only by faith in Christ that we shall be saved, both here and in eternal heaven.

An act of God could prevail and give us our country back. You’re so right… it’s up to us.

We HAVE TO elect a strong Republican President that will wield the “veto” pen, and appoint Federal Agency Administrators that will reverse the thousands of regulations being written to “transform this country” into a dictatorship. Obama wasn’t kidding. He may be on vacation, but he’s appointed people to get the job done, on a day to day basis, to bring this country to its knees.

If we win, there will be widespread violence. If we lose, there will violence just as sweeping, but slower and more like a progressive fatal disease. As we fight for who controls our house, we must recognize that conservatives are handicapped in that they want to repair and make the country better,to restore individual rights, and conservatives have always been willing to continue to work within the system even if they lose.

The left intends to rule and would rather burn the house down than let go of the levers of power. We have to learn that we cannot change the course of America against this type of domestic enemy unless we are willing to face cities burning and overt sabotage by those elements of government controlled by the left.

I’ve become concerned that what you and others before you have said is true: We crossed that invisible line some time ago, without taking notice. I’m a big Ayn Rand fan, but the notion that this is necessarily inevitable has never sat well with me. I like to think that it’s possible to fix things, but I’m a realist and I can see the extent of what you’re saying and know it is probably, almost certainly true. I also tire of being told “don’t get so ramped-up over it.” There’s a widespread belief that this is just another phase, but the problem is that I, apparently like most of the respondents here, seem to agree that this is a stage in a larger cycle of birth, growth, maturity, regression and death that haunts the footsteps of all cultures. Me? I’m 46. If I live another week, month or year doesn’t matter so much to me. I’ve never been scared in that way. I think about my young adult daughter, and that makes me wince. I raised her to think like me, and that appears to be obsolete in the coming cultural norms.

For me, I could care less, in truth, but on her account, I fear as any father would.

"And the reason I think so is that most of the people who scream about cutting off entitlements are, in some sense, living off entitlements themselves."

Would you care to elaborate? "In some sense"?

I disagree. This is very different.

The big difference between the 60’s and now is that back then the “rioters” were a very small portion of the society, mostly college kids. their parents were working and the massive welfare state was still in its infancy compared to now.

The depression was “worse” , but the mentality was VERY different of those out of work and the whole society. People wanted food for their families, not bling. With no welfare state men would go far off to work on the WPA, making very, very few dollars and sending that home, living in primitive encampments while they did very hard manual labor.

What I fear is that the entitlement group is so huge now and the work ethic so savaged, we are in a different universe with Feral Youts who get drugged out and are ready to plunder and kill. THAT was not the case in such huge volumes before.

And now I am going to have some of my Hagen Dasz chocolate ice cream..the only sane response to our current situation.

Truth29, that’s exactly how I have come to see it. We can get it on, or go quietly in a long whimpering demise. Too melodramatic? Perhaps, but it doesn’t seem so from here.

“Will we restore our nation, or slide over the precipice into historical insignificance?”

I’m becoming more and more pessimistic. We can’t even get into a discussion about SS here on FR without someone saying “I paid into it and that money better not be taken away from me by insignificant COLA increases.” I’m not worried that liberals are trying to take this country down. Am am worried that people who call themselves conservative don’t know what it will take to keep it going.

Just today I had someone here on FR say to me that tax cuts not matched by spending cuts were just fine with him because “it’s still a good thing when people get to keep more of their own money regardless of what happens on the other side in DC.” I mean my goodness.

I don’t believe it’s too late.
As long as there is breath left it is not too late.

But it is going to be a difficult thing to do when the “entitlements” are adjusted as they will have to be.

As you said, there are people in this country who think they can (and do) demand that they be given everything they need to live ... housing, food, health care, education etc and when any of this is denied them they will have no recourse but to complain and riot.
A lot of them are not equipped to provide any of this for themselves, would have no idea of what to do if they had to.

It will be a difficult time to get through but given the proper people running things it can be done and I hope it is.

What we the people have to do is find suitable leadership to accomplish it.

I agree and am tired of the “too late crowd”...as long as we ask God to intervene and trust that and we don’t give up it is never too late...how many times did Washington say, “It’s too late”? They were outnumbered and outspent and stil won. That is still us.

The SDS, and close travelers were communist designed, directed, and supported. The outgrowth of this cancer now resides in congress and the white house. The big difference is that in the 60's they were only rabble; now, they're in power.

Even if our side was in power (if you could call them allies) I believe we’d still be heading down the same path. SO my wife and I have made our plans to get out while we still can. In three years one way or the other we will leave.
I love my country and those here that still believe like me but my self-preservation instincts have kicked in.
I see strife in the near future and plan to be half a world away before it comes to a head.

Mark, we have too many people in the US who cannot be turned back to sensible, productive lives. They are like addicts, they simply cannot and will not be inspired by anything like responsibility, conservativism, patriotism, Judeo-Christian values or by the leaders that embrace these values. Indeed, they would destroy those things if given the chance. In the end, the addiction to others fruits of labor will destroy them because those producers will stop feeding the machine.

You can see it the way people talk, in their eyes, they know its coming. It’s on every forum, in every city and town.

I worry for my son as well and pray if strife comes, it’s while I still have some youth left. Settle this mess and allow our children a better future. They will have it hard no doubt, but if done right, the restoration will be worth it.
