King Philippe I/II put down the Moresco rebellion quite brutally ~ but he was a kindly man so he simply EXILED almost all of them ~ mostly on the first ship outta’ town. All Spanish ships at that time were going to and from Mexico.
Yep, you’re right in that the vast majority of the moors were kicked out. But, I don’t think they went to Mexico. There was quite a large civilization in Mexico when the Spaniards arrived, and their descendants still live there today. Some have Spanish blood, some don’t. They are generally referred to as “Mestizos” Some are great people, some, unfortunately, are not.
