Methinks this will be the true cause, but one small correction (methinks).

The sun doesn’t generate cosmic rays - these are very energetic particles being brewed by things far more energetic than the sun....or at least, that’s the stuff I was taught during my physics class journeys. Those little buggers were generated a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

I don't believe that is what I said. I said that the solar wind from an active sun blows the cosmic rays away from Earth.
He suggested that cloud formation was seeded by the interaction of cosmic radiation with the atmosphere. Thus greater amounts of solar activity leads to a more powerful solar wind, less incident cosmic radiation, less cloud formation, and greater global temperatures.
