I just Googled “All this just for a flag” and it got 1,720,000,000 hits. Is that possible??????

No, it’s not possible. Place the entire phrase in quotation marks and you will have only 105,000 hits.

Without quotes, Google is bringing up all the words in the phrase, no matter what the subject... for instance, all the many articles on the internet that simply have the word “flag” in it.

You need to put that into quotes, otherwise it it pulls up hits on the words separately. When in quotes, the search engine comes up with 104,000 hits.

You have to put it in double quotes to limit the hits to that exact phrase. Then it comes down to 108,000.
