I read something earlier this year here...about how “Palestine” got its name....had to do with a PALEOntology study going on in that area.....nothing more....I’ll go see if I bookmarked it.

Palestine was named by Augustus Caesar and it actually occupied a lot of what we call Lebanon and Syria.

Palestine was derived from Philistine or the people of Philistia around 12BC. It derives from the Latin pronunciation.
