..and a man who believes in buying his votes with taxpayer money by financing an education for illegal citizens; a man who decrees a mandate for immunization by a stroke of his pen; a man who has some apparent difficulty even in full on attacking those rivals who seek the same job he does..yes, lest we forget it’s the Left who takes down someone like Governor Perry all on their own. He himself has no complicity in his own downfall, is that right?. Thank’s for clearing that up.
The Left hasn’t ruined Perry. Perry has ruined Perry.
The left has nothing to do with Perry’s self destruction. He did it all by himself, and asked the heartless conservatives to assist him along the way. Now many are quite willing to help him in that regard.
He ruined himself.
I, for one, am tired of having illegal aliens rammed down my throat and then guilt tripped about it when I speak up against it.
Consider me an uncompassionate conservative.
Perry would be smart to concede that his views regarding illegal aliens is simply not transferrable on a national scale. What may allegedly work in Texas (probably just for political expediency) will not work nationally. A hard line has to be drawn. Kicking this illegal invasion can down the road is no longer acceptable to most conservatives anymore. This is Bush redux.
And as far as I am concerned Governor Perry can stay in Texas and keep spending Texas money to subsidize his favorite illegal aliens through college.
You are living in a fantasy world.
Rick Perry was ruined by Rick Perry. That last debate clinched his fate for me. I went from probable support to good bye.
I LOVE that ad, it gives me chills.
Then, the next day in an interview...he defended it.
This was a HUGE mistake for him and he needed to retract it instead of defend it. Hs should retract it now and back away from that position. It is not a winner for him in the least and his immigration stance is one of the princiople issues I have with him, even though I genuinely like the man and his life-story.
The American people, the conservative, down-to-earth, God-fearing people he wants to appeal to and whom he must have, are about the most charitable people in the world. They do not want government TAKING their money and then giving it to others, particularly those who have broken the law, or are breaking the law, in the name of chaity.
To call them "children" in an effort to garner that type of charity also is a miss. They are, most of them 18 years of age and older. If they are not US Citizens, then they are breaking the law. Perido...however they got here in the first place with parents bringing them illegally.
Perry's pandering to La Raza in San Antonio in 2010 really irked me too and sent up the warning flags.
That's what this program does...and then for being against it he called them, "hearltess." That's a big loser for him as all the polls and results are showing.
The left didn’t have to ruin Rick Perry, he did it all himself, imo.
How much time does Perry and his campaign staff need to develop a series of one minute responses to differing topics, eight or so? How much time does Perry need to sit down and commit those responses to memory? How much time does Perry need to practice giving those responses until he can do a creditable job of it?
It’s not the peoples job to cut him slack and give him time. It’s Perry’s job to be presentable and knowledgeable about the issues. Perry still has some time to get his act together and develop his skills but the time isn’t long, imo. Perry has been in three debates and there are two more debates coming up on Oct. 11 & 18. I think the Oct. debates are the timeline Perry has to become a credible candidate or not. JMO.
Remember back in the 90s’ when Hillary spoke out in defense of Bill against “A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?” In the end, the cause of the problems were Bills poor behavior and decision making skills, not anyone on the Right.
Did “A Vast Left Wing Conspiracy” force Perry’s hand on in state tuition?
Sometimes it helps if one tunes out of the daily political war, and checks in on it once a week. Whatever happened last week, including the supposed trashing of Perry, is a non-event and doesn’t matter.
Perry would be a great president. So would Herman Cain.
The Perry-haters are going to spew their talking points all over any pro-Perry thread. I understand you like your candidate, and I do as well, there is no longer any chance of intelligent discussion about Perry on FR. You’re wasting your time.
I had an anti-Perry tell me Perry was like Michael Dukakis. That’s the level of discourse anymore.
Too bad.
Good grief. Perry can ruin himself. Jerry Doyle called him “Arlen Specter in cowboy boots”. Six months to my primary, I don’t know who I will vote for. He didn’t score points with me by talking down to me exactly like a liberal democrat in this debate. What the heck does he know about my heart?
