I wish this had been properly. IMHO, what should have happened is that Anwar should have been tried, in absentia, for treason, convicted and sentenced to death, and then the sentence carried out.
He was tried in absentia. Then the military intel and cia intel guys dropped a bomb on him.
He was tried by a jury of battlefield peers.
On the battlefield, every soldier downed is downed by a consensus on the other side that war is suddenly in fashion.
Seriously, though, the necessity of any trial was obviated by act of Congress, Sep 19, 2001, when they declared retaliation on anyone aiding, abetting, etc., those responsible for 9/11.
