The "threat of suspended elections" has been "real" since, at least, Reagan.

It's become much more "realer" since the internet got popular.

I played along during the Clinton years, but it grew tiresome after a while.

My rational side agrees with what you said, with two qualifications.

One, Obama clearly is a America-hating Alinsky-worshipping iconoclast who has already demonstrated extra-constitutional tendencies and a tendency to deviate from convention to satisfy his ends.

And second, a suspicion of government and its motives is very healthy.
