Guess they feel a bit more worried about safety nowadays.

So the burning question is "who are they afraid of?".

From what Holder and Napolitano say it is a Christian, white family man, former military, NRA member who drives a pickup and clings to his families history. Me.

We're in different times now.

During Watergate, they knew they were breaking the law. They accepted the realities of the law once they got caught.

The Clinton Administration changed the rules. They instituted the policy of "Deny, deny, deny."

No longer would they accept the realities of the law if caught. Democrats began to flout the law by circling the wagons around the embattled one, they began defending the indefensible, and they began the "delay, delay, delay" strategy of outlasting the opposition (weak Republicans). The Democrats knew that they could count on the MSM to provide cover for them, while providing flanking fire at the skittish Republicans.

After Bush beat Gore, the Democrats advanced to new lows by openly undermining Republicans with lies and obstructionist parliamentary procedures (Kennedy's "Lie after lie after lie..." and filibustering judicial nominations), all in the name of opposing an illegitimate president.

Furthermore, the way that Pelosi engineered the smears of the 2006 mid-term election that swept her into power foreshadowed what was to come.

Congressional Democrats no longer felt constrained by the Constitutional process, abusing longstanding rules and traditions to force through unconstitutional legislation that favored the Left.

Now, they don't even pretend to be constrained by laws. Obama issues waivers to allies as if he actually had the power to do so, and nobody pushes back.

Obama says the most outrageous lies, and nobody challenges them.

Republicans in Congress use their oversight powers to compel testimony, and the witnesses brazenly lie or exercise 5th amendment rights (even after negotiating terms of appearance to the contrary).

And we're now to be expected to just let this slide, that in these new times we can't be bothered by such trivialities anymore.

Are we? I would like to think so, but I think that American politicians have tried to push the envelope at times before. I am sure you can find times in American history that the legislature was just as duplicitous. I live through the Viet Nam era and those were very interesting times. I rather think that we tend to make the same mistakes over and over. We will all suffer for this stupidity. The fall will be very painful too.

They are afraid of the same thing as any occupier, the locals!

I think that American politicians have tried to push the envelope at times before.

Reid just played the nuclear option to revoke filibusters in the Senate, and force bills through without the possibility of amendment.

Ms. Attkisson just appeared live on BOR. Ole’ blowhard did his usual interview where he kept talking over his guest when she was trying to answer his questions.

She appeared much more measured and “precise” in her comments, especially on the cursing thing but she acknowledged it was a very important story that she is obviously not letting go of it.
