I never understood the term the 99%ers at all, so I just looked it up. In case others were as ignorant as I ...

"99ers" is a term for the group of unemployed workers who have been out of work for over 99 weeks and thus are no longer eligible to receive federal unemployment benefits.

99 weeks (not %) is almost two full years of unemployment benefits?! C'Mon Man!

Dear “27 and $100,000 in debt”,

In hindsight, you probably know deep down inside that you shouldn’t have borrowed $100,000 to pay for a useless degree in, what, underwater basketweaving or some such nonsense. As it stands now, if you start making monthly payments (which will likely require getting a job and earning your keep for a change) now, you should have that paid off in 30 years or less. Now get to work, you lazy drone!

signed,

Meyer.

The time is NOW to move to a safe corner of the CW2 cube. Don't be stranded

Better advice has never been given. There were a lot of Jews that would have been breathing in 1945 if they had done that in 1935.

Why am I supposed to feel sorry for that??

That one smells like a troll. The four jobs and "sex for money" is a giveaway. I could believe one, or the other, but not both.

Each one of them has a computer, camera, and Internet connection - more than enough to start a profitable business.

Ah, but starting a business also requires a brain, intestinal fortitude, and freedom. They lack the former two, and don't believe in the third.

Yep, and it happens over and over. Ask the Greeks and other Christians in Smyrna if they wished they'd left before the Turks arrived in 1922. Now is the time.

"Smart young urban professionals" who live in downtown condos should really consider relocating. CW2 will not be kind to them.

I tell you one thing....the times we are living in, with the government we have and the debt we have, etc. are sure teaching MY kids what NOT to do. And hopefully I’m not alone. Hopefully the kids of today (in their teens now), will really learn something from what is happening around them today.

My 16 year old step son wants to go to college, and he’s already sending out feelers for some and researching what he wants to do. He already recognizes that if he goes to college, it had better be for a good paying job, for when he gets out. And he knows HE is going to have to work hard to get there.

He knows we can’t afford to send him to college, so he’s also going to have to work hard at school and try to earn scholarships to help out.

But another thing I’ve noticed, is my kids see these bratty selfish kids, whining and bitching on tv about what they feel they are entitled to, and they seem to understand at ages 7 and 9, that you have to get off your ass and take care of yourself and NOT ever depend on the government for help. They know, government is the problem, not the solution, most especially THIS government.

The guy who pumped gas 24/7 through frozen blizzards at a small airstrip in Montana was offered a better job gold mining in Arizona,

but he said, “What? And quit aviation?”

Yep, you noticed how seamlessly the MSM morphed "99 weeks of unemployment" into "99% of the oppressed population."

(Clear message: SCAPEGOAT the evil filthy 1%. AKA, "Guillotines will be a rush.")

Depends...

Some of us have doing a little bit over the years to create a “safer” place to go to that is actually safe, defendable, livable and sustainable, on the grid, off the grid, or somewhere in between...

Some people laughed, family members tolerated the preparations, etc etc etc...

But when the time comes to put the old digs in the mirror and head to the “safe” place...

Guess who will be laughing...And who will be in not so good a shape when the bubble bursts...

And you know what...If it never happens, so be it...At least “we” will have been prepared...Because after I’m gone, I won’t care...

Plain and simple...

It is interesting that she does not actually say it is education loan debt...just that she is $100,000 in debt. Does not specify as mortgage debt, so I doubt it is that... Could be credit cards, etc.?? How a 27-year old can rack up that kind of debt—educational or otherwise is beyond me.

I look at these kids and what they wrote and think back to when I was that age. The biggest difference I think is education.

The NEA and the AFT have managed to so dumb down the US educational system that graduates are functional illiterates. Reading some of their missives, I can understand why they can’t get a job. They are into themselves and little else. Me, Me, Me. Sorta like nobama. Who is going to hire someone with that attitude?

I fully agree with the several posters who have said take a long shower, get a haircut, remove the metal from your body, cover up your tattoos as best you can and go find a job.

And who has the jobs to hand out? We do. We the 1%ers that you so despise. Cut the irony with a knife.

You need to convince us, the 1%, that you are worth our time and trouble. Your current shtick ain’t getting it!

BTY your 99% claim is utter bullsh1t. I suspect you represent, at best, 20% of the US population. But I bet you have wonderful self esteem :)

27 years old and $100,000 debt.....

A good bit of the higher education establishment is a big swindle. Idiot kids pay 50 grand a year at a "name" university, take some dumbed down major, enjoy 4 or 5 years of screwing off, and then cry that nobody will give them a 100 grand a year job.

Life's a b!tch and then you die....

"My mother (M.A.) is upside down on her house. My father (PhD) lives in his car so he can do what he does for a living rather than be a slave to the system."

So your Dad's taken care of. The option he desires is open to him and he's taken it. Oh, you think it's somehow society's obligation to guarantee him the ability to choose to do what he loves AND make enough not to have to live in his car? What if "what he loves" is analysis of medieval Kurdish love poetry or something else society has no need for?

As far as your mom's situation goes, yes the banks DO bear some responsibility, but mostly for NOT standing up to the government telling them to do things that made no sense, rather than for some evil capitalist scheme to get rich on her back, like I'm sure you believe. And don't forget, the government you want to step in, and borrowers like your mom, many of whom bought property they clearly couldn't afford, bear much of the blame as well.

Remember, when government enters, individual freedom leaves. I thought that was what liberals were all about.

Notice the lady whose sign says that "Knowledge should be free". Perhaps she should tell us who has the obligation to provide her with this knowledge for free.

And, I wonder how she would feel if someone else had a sign that says that she should be willing to offer whatever employable skills she has to others for free.
