Next time you call a talk radio station, beware: The FBI may be listening.
According to WMAL.com, "The FBI has awarded a $524,927 contract to a Virginia company to record as much radio news and talk programming as it can find on the Internet.
The FBI says it is not playing Big Brother by policing the airwaves, but rather seeking access to what airs as potential evidence." The agency's reasons for recording all these radio programs don't get any clearer as the news report goes on. No doubt that is intentional.

So much for the 1st A.
They do know for a small fee they could listen to Rush Limbaugh any time they want..don’t they? Rush Limbaugh.com he does all the work for you dumb FBI agents!
It is harassment and intimidation — remember WHO AND WHAT you are dealing with.
'But rather'? What does the FBI think Big Brothers do?
Radio stations archive their programs.
Even tiny stations do.
The FBI has to much funding if they feel they need to spend half a million dollars on this stuff.
What is the difference?
You beat me to it. "We're not policing, we're just looking for evidence." (Scratches head) (Uh-huh.)
The only way this could conceivably be “potential evidence” is if the FBI was pretty sure it had the ability to track down the identity of “Mike from Pittsburg.”
Chris Plante mentioned this Thursday morning (10/13/2011) at the top of his talk show in Washington, DC. On WMAL 630AM and FM 105.9.
Not that I am surprised by the rampant paranoia of the Obama administration.
Sounds like a full blown fishing expedition on the tax payers’ dime to gather ammo for another Fairness Doctrine. Either through the front door. Or the back door.
Yet more evidence of the ongoing war of the federal government, especially of its bureaucracies, against the citizens.
Funny that they leave out the crucial bit, and don’t explain what they want evidence *of*.
There has to be a way to verbally flip-the-bird to the FBI when we call in to these shows.
It’s great drama when Hochner asks that big fat girl to check somebody’s complete background including phone records, phone recordings, credit card transactions, though, isn’t it?
That’s the creepy part.
I suggest the term “fufibby” (FUFBI).
“Hey, dittos Rush and fufibby. I just wanted to make a point about our First Amendment rights being attacked under the current administration...”
Gee, do I have to wonder if they monitor FR?
Where are all the civil libertarians? If this were G.W., the sh** would be hitting the proverbial fan. Also, the state-run media would be up in arms, liberals in Congress would be running toward the cameras and microphones. Amazing it is not, when the libs and progressives are in charge, non of this civil liberty stuff really matters.
The FBI is more than likely monitoring us here as we speak.
HI!!!.. Mr. FBI man!
