Hey Man, Don't Touch My Jack!

If you enjoy a little Jack in your Coke, you may be paying more for it soon. The tax man and the "fair share" screamers have a new target:

Jack Daniel’s and Lynchburg have been inseparable since a young man named Jack Daniel came there more than a century ago to learn the art of distilling corn mash into whiskey. He set up shop on the northeastern end of town and the company has never looked to go anywhere else. It produces 23 million gallons of amber gold – about a billion dollars worth, every year.

I use to live at Ft. Knox and for a while dated a girl in Bardstown. Her mother worked for Jim Beam. The whole county was dry at the time. Still is I think. Every wall in the mother's house was lined with shelves. On the shelves? The Jim Beam decanters. Every one that had been produced up to that point in time and all were still full. No one in the family consumed alcohol. I just drooled when in the house. Should have married her. Maybe I would have ended up with the collection. Could have retired on the sale of the collection.

It is immoral to mix Jack Daniels with anything except a little ice.

No, it is immoral to go after big business for more revenue just because "they can afford it."

What you describe is merely a matter of preference.

It is immoral to take tongue in cheek posts on FR seriously.

Or, as my grandpa would say, “You can shear a sheep right down to the hide over and over again, but you can only skin it once.”

“We are entitled to more money from the only industry in the county – Jack Daniel’s distillery,” said Charles Rogers, a 75-year-old retiree and self-described “concerned citizen” of Moore County – home to Lynchburg and Jack Daniel’s.

There's a word that describes you to a 't', Mr. Rogers. Communist.

Tennessee has been a target of the progressives for some time...it appears they are making inroads.

Perhaps the residents so bent on adding additional taxes on Jack Daniels should read the old story The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs.

The drooling was probably the reason she didn't marry you.

“Another example of milking the same cow to death.”

Mr. Entitlement Mentality may find that the “cow” he wanted to milk can and will stomp him into the socialist mire from whence he came.

I can’t imagine the community voting for such a tax. But the fact that it was proposed proves that collectivism infected ‘community organizers’ can be white and live outside Chicago.

Interesting factoid...

Whenever and where ever you buy a bottle of any Jack Daniles product, on average, about 60% of the purchase price goes for various taxes...think about it...

Never thought of that. Thanks. I’ll watch the drooling if I can ever find another woman who will have anything to do with me.
