Aw man. I just put down my managerial accounting text book to freeping and this is the first post I come across... dag nabbit...
I wonder if you'll receive an answer to that.
Your posting isn’t nearly long enough.
Same here.
A brain surgeon who has been at it for 20 years probably thinks its “not as hard as you’d think”. Same with C++ programmers, hollywood stars and various politicians. Familiarity and contempt and all that.
Based on that principle the tax code should be scrapped and replace by a system where everybody makes a contribution. It would be okay and simpler for every American to pay the same flat rate of tax without regard to the amount of basic income.
Douchebag line of the day.
Curious if the author is someone who makes a living navigating the current tax system. He mentions that he’s worked with it for 30 years. Anybody know?
“The tax code should be simple enough that a High School Graduate should be able to do his own taxes without a computer program.”
A flat tax would do that. Although I think 20% is too high, that 10% should cover the costs that I think should be spelled out in Q2, debated through Q3 and voted on at November (when one sixth of one and only termers are recycled from office) the Flat Tax should work out. I think a calculator(as found on most computers) a credit card (or check) and a one page form should do the trick for tax payment and voting. No tax payment, no vote.
Who is natural born conservative anyways ?
Or better yet who is Larry Walker Jr ?
If the current tax code is not complicated then why are accountants and lawyers needed to figure it out? If the current tax code is not complicated why is it 70000 pages?
I agree.
Please tell me you were being sarcastic to ask that question. He opined; "Ive worked with the tax law for 30 years, and I dont think its all that complicated."
So why the Hell is this fool not been nominated for Treasury Secretary? The scary though is he not?
Ive worked with the tax law for 30 years, and I dont think its all that complicated.

The IRS Tax Code. Over 71,000 pages. Over 5.6 million words. And you claim it’s not complicated?
As others have said... You are an idiot.
but the basic bedrock of the Internal Revenue Code isnt at all complex.

Thus sayeth the accountant!!!
U.S. Tax Code is approaching 60,000 pages! Nobody including the IRS understands it. Almost as bad a ObamaCare.
Maybe we can come up with something better than 999, and we don't want a federal sales tax until the 16th amendment is repealed, but the rest of it's a lot better than 60K pages of gobbledygook.
An impressive analysis!
But watch out! Based on what I’ve been seeing today on other FR threads, anybody who voices the slightest criticism of Herman will probably be labeled a RINO mole, somebody who well may be taking orders from Karl Røve, Mark Steyn, Allahpundit and similar neo-con agents.
Well, I stopped reading after this point. Made it three sentences into the article.
Sure, I suppose the tax code isn't that complicated for the lower 50% who don't pay taxes. And its probably isn't all that complicated for people that don't have any deductions. But if you have almost any holdings you are stuck with a byzantine set of rules that takes tens of man-hours to navigate. And with a need to keep meticulous records in case the IRS comes a calling...
And it need not be that way. Just make a very simple process. No deductions is fine - we don't need the tax code to enhance social engineering exercises. I'm sure the tax lawyers of the world prefer the complex code - but I don't. Its a drag on productivity.
“Ive worked with the tax law for 30 years, and I dont think its all that complicated”
Obviously your lively hood is dependent on a complicated tax system so you can charge huge fees to deal with it. In other word, Cain and anyone else who wishes to replace the neo-marxist system with a simplified tax is a direct threat to your wallet.
