Why didn’t Cain throw his support behind the Fairtax, which already has research and supporters? Serious question.
I like both Bachman and Palin but their opportunities have been lost. I do not like Romney (the GOP favorite), Perry, or Huntsman (the DNC favorite). (Sorry, but) I loathe Ron Paul, cute and folksy as he may be.
Lord help me; I'm starting to really believe that Gingrich is the only adult, consistent, viable, one in the bunch.
I also think it means he fears being put out of business.
Under this stupid plan they will be paying 9% Federal Sales tax on top.
This plan is DOA.
Abolish the IRS and the income tax, then I don't have a problem with a 9% Federal sales tax.
Somebody ought to explain to Cain that proposing new Federal sales taxes while keeping the income tax is not conservative.
That being said, I still like the man better than any of the other candidates save Gingrich, got a feeling that 999 is a starting point.
Just wish a candidate had the balls to declare war on the IRS, Federal Apparatchiks, Unions, domestic Communists, and lawyers.
The tax code is complicated to the American people, many of whom hire H&R Block to fill out their short forms for the IRS. Most are so mathematically-challenged they wouldn’t think of reading the forms and filling them out themselves.
Let's just summarily dismiss it all and get back to business as usual.
end sarcasm
Please tell me you were being sarcastic to ask that question. He opined; “Ive worked with the tax law for 30 years, and I dont think its all that complicated.”
No, I wasn’t being sarcastic. I was wondering what prompted you to be slamming the guy. To which part of the bombast you most objected...I thought the tax code part pretty snotty, but not stupid. The woods are full of assholes that claim to know everything and they aren’t all stoned. Some of them just think they are smarter than the rest of us.

Interesting. Lets say if everyone paid “their fair share” the total federal tax rate maybe 15% for both individuals and business or $.15 out of $1.00. With our code here’s what happen: a “special group” lobbies congress and get exception to their “fair share” and end up paying %.00 out of every $1.00. that mean the rest of the tax payers have to pick the slack through higher taxes. As more and more Special interest get their way with congress that means the rest of the taxes payers rate has to go up. Remember, the federal government still needs $.15 out of every $1.00 to operate. What I dislike about Cain’s 999 plan or his 909 it still hides the tax rate thought “paper work” hidden from the real tax payer, the end user of goods and srevices.
10% Flat tax would suit me fine - provided a guaranteed debt projection and voted and vetted fiscal year budget with debt reduction built in. Might cost me, but with skin in the game, the non-payers wouldn’t be so quick to spend my kids’ and their kids’ money. These progressive schemes ignore both the debt and common sense completely. Empowerment zones. KMA.
The problem with a flat tax is that it doesn’t address the issue of everyone having a stake in the country. People receiving government aid in lieu of working still will be sponging without contributing. That’s why these kinds of taxes are called “fair”

I must have lost count after 58,523.
If Cain’s 9-9-9 plan puts H & R Block and tax ‘experts’ like you out of business, I will personally shine Mr. Cain’s shoes, wash his car, and cut his grass for FREE.
Cain is still committed to the Fair Tax. 999 is phase I of his economic plan, is intended to be a temporary bridge to the Fair Tax.
The idea is to bring Fair Tax and Flat Tax proponents together, cut spending, and educate people on the Fair Tax so they will put pressure on Congress to pass it. It is hard for people to “get” how 23% consumption tax can work, but a 9% consumption tax will allow them to see how it can work.
I see you’ve made a terrible mistake. You spent time and effort to do a detailed analysis, and it took more than one paragraph to explain.
Therefore, it was too long, so everybody ignored everything you wrote, found a sentence they could use to feel better about themselves, and responded as if they have something important to add to the conversation.
I don’t find tax law all that complicated (for the most part) either.
But it wouldn’t hurt to simplify it — there’s way too many things that have been thrown into it because politicians are involved. But throwing out the whole thing and replacing it with something new isn’t necessary to cure that problem.
You evidently haven’t researched this plan. This will REPLACE income taxes NOT be added to them. It’s pretty much laid out on Cain’s web page.

It should be a good business model. You can pay your employees a buck an hour, build any kind of building wherever you want to put it, and deduct everything. Should be like printing money.
*slaps head* It took me 21 posts and you to tell me.......
Now I get it! LOLOLOL!
