It was Perry’s Arizona campaign (chair or something like that, I’ve seen several posts giving different titles for her). With that said, I don’t think the Perry camp itself would do this, but the buzz among opponents was happening before it was released so someone was floating the story to Cain’s opponents.
It is likely to have been known by all rival campaigns that it was coming and Perry's AZ campaign chair needs more self-control. Doesn't mean they planted anything though. It does fit the Romney MO and media sources historically used by them.
Thanks. It could have been Perry. Or, as others on this thread have speculated, it could have gotten out there several weeks ago and drifted around, before Politico decided to go with it.
If that’s true, then it may be difficult to know who was responsible for doing this. I suppose it could even have been several people—the ones who originally started spreading the story, perhaps beginning with the women who claim they were victimized, or it could have been one of the campaigns going to Politico with it.
I suspect there was a three week delay because there really isn’t much in it.
