People aren’t all bad.
Because of dangers involved in not knowing who has stopped to help you, my procedure for offering help has changed. I now stop a goodly distance away so as to not present a threat. Then I call out loudly, asking if the person needs help. A couple of times, women have shown their cell phones indicating tha tthey had other means of dealing with the problem. I believe that this approach kept those women from being afraid.
True, and for every incident like the ones mentioned in the article, I'm guessing there are several more like your father's experience, every day. They just don't make the evening news, the motto of which is, "If it bleeds, it leads."
Did the helper have a big truck. Guys with big trucks in our neck of the woods are the saviors of many on the road.
