Did they really have to use that title for this story?
Thanks for continuing to illustrate my point.
This is political theater, designed only to continue to churn out naive conservative votes for phony Republicans.
And meanwhile, the country continues to go to hell in a handbasket.
I guess you’ve never served in a large organization. Hearings and debate are a vital part of the process. The saying goes, “The minority will be heard, but the majority will rule.”
Of course, they did. The purpose is not to tell the truth; the purpose is to ding the Republican Party.
Too bad you consider it only theatre. And too bad you can't see the ammunition it will likely give conservatives to fight the good fight in Senate races next year...which has far-reaching consequences and is far from theatre.
Well, the particular “large organization” we’re dealing with is the United States Senate. Your original defense of the Republicans here was that it was somehow impolite or impolitic to block a vote in committee. Just how many bills do you think are killed in committee in Congress and the state legislatures by Republicans and Democrats?
I hope you’re right.
How many more of these "moral victories" can the country stand before it is completely wrecked?
>> I hope youre right. >>
I am confident I am in this particular case. Look, I love slamming Grassley, Cornyn, Graham, et al at any chance I get - but in this case, they did nothing to be slammed over. In fact, what they did might end up being extremely helpful.
I don't think such a vote will wreck the country.
They already voted. DOMA is the law.
Voting against gay marriage again won’t wreck the country IMO.
You can’t actually block a bill by refusing to vote to come to a vote in the committee. They have other methods of getting a vote. They could have delayed the vote.
Wasting precious time playing more stupid, deceptive political games with the Democrats will, though.
It's true enough that I find this to be yet another example of Republican Party's miserable failure in providing leadership. That's why I posted the article in the Republican Watch forum at AmericasPartyNews rather than in the Committee to Defend Marriage & the Natural Family forum. I spent more time deciding which forum was better fit than I did on the headline.
Grassley is my Senator. And the context for this story is that he hasn’t lifted a finger to help us deal with the out of control judges who imposed sodomite fake “marriage” on our state.
We the People threw three of these lawless justices out on their ears in the last retention election, and we did what was needed to put the people in place to impeach the other four, but the Grassley-Branstad-led Republican “leadership,” ironically in the context of this story, buried those resolutions in committee.

Very good information - the whole thing is excellent. Especially the part explaining how the R Senators are worse than useless, and also the section headed:
It's Not About So-Called Same-Sex Marriage. It's About The Eradication Of Your Firmly-Held Religious Beliefs.
The homosexual agenda means destruction of our Constitutional rights.
That is bad, but the biggest damage is the destruction of the definition of what marriage is. If marriage can be anything then it means nothing., The polygamists, pedophiles, and practitioners of bestiality are all standing in line waiting for the right time to become the next "victims of intolerance." Mark my words.
I’d like to be pinged along with wagglebee if you don’t mind as we both do both lists. Thanks!
Does everyone know that Feinstein is seriously considering attaching this provision for repealing DOMA as a rider to the Defense Authorization Bill? Yes, it’s happening.
