It's a great scheme. Invest $100K in campaign contributions and get $100 million back in taxpayer money. No wonder the country is broke.

In my opinion, donors should be automatically ineligible for ('recused' from) government grants and other funding.

That is only addressing one half of the problem. Many times donors expect tax credits and favorable regulation with carve-outs for them. Some donors expect to see government crush competitors like the government did to Gibson guitars.

The swamp is much deeper and broader than anyone can imagine.
