Cross Haley off the list of ever getting conservative support in her future endeavors.

Perry would bring the BIG fight that we really want.

Yep. And he'll do it Texas style.

Republican women are not wired that way. My wife certainly is not. If we were talking about dems pandering to all their splintered special interest groups; you’d be onto something.

Haha. During the debate the other night I couldn't help but see GHWB in Romney.

I remember Bush Sr. saying he hunted birds but could never kill a deer. That's the Romney route too except he kills mammals but just small ones.

They wanted to be a hunter, but not a mean one. Perry would say "not only do I hunt deer but I gut, skin and quarter them by myself and I make a mean chicken fried venison"

That’s a good analogy to use when people compare Perry to the Bushes (which really are Northeastern elites) — or to Romney.

“Why more conservatives don’t support him is a mystery to me”

Perry shot to the top of the polls, with ~40% just weeks after his announcement. Immigration, and the miscues were the killer. People are going beyond the miscues. Everybody, even teenagers, have senior moments, and he had back pain.. But its the ads and the base excitement, not debates, that will determine the election. Plus Perry did good the last 2 debates.

If immigration can be resolved, because he had 40%, he could shoot right back up real fast!

Cincinatus’ Wife: yeah that varmit thing is funny. It brings up a point. Maybe he could make inroads with Paul supporters. Perry’s “moderate” cut govt position is the closest to Paul’s more extreme position. Maybe, maybe not.

I’m relying on some pretty wise and plugged-in people – I talk to John Bolton on a regular basis and the ambassador is greatly concerned about Iran."

I have to laugh when people get all excited about Newt appointing John Bolton to this position or that, I tell them John Bolton is advising Perry and it goes right over their heads.

That’s because the Cain supporters are still licking their wounds...especially all those who sent him $$ after he said he was considering suspending his campaign..

It is not the outside of a person that matters... it is what is inside... and romney and newt are full of progressive entrails!

So you were ok with Perry endorsing Rudy last time around, right?

For all of you making a big deal about endorsements, you’d better take a good look at who ‘your guy/girl’ endorsed in the past. Not a single candidate out there hasn’t endorsed a RINO at one time or another.

Of course, endorsements are nothing more than ego strokes anyway. Personally, they make no difference in who I will vote for.

Didn't Haley say several months ago that IF she made an endorsement, it wouldn't be until just before the SC primary?

Look, I like, admire, and respect her. if we manage to screw it up and lose the WH, then Haley imediately jumps to the short list of possibles for 2016, along with Rubio, Ryan, and a few others...

I can understand if this endorsement is payback for Mitt's very early support of her candidacy for governor. He WAS one of the first..gotta give Mittens props for that. What makes NO sense to me is why NOW? Given how the polls are bouncing all over the place, why not wait until after the NH primary? Heck..he could LOSE the NH primary, which woudl , IMHO, effectively END his campaign.

Actually, here's a cynical thought..Haley thinks that Mitt's gonna lose..he could be done after NH...so by stepping up now...she keeps her promise..shows that she has honor among pols..and then after he drops oiut, she's a free agent.

Gotta wait to see what DeMint does..

The same exact thing happened to Barry Goldwater... even to the point where he said clinton was a great President... Reagan grew more Conservative with age.

As I see it the Free Republic is the leading indicator of the R race. It’s like the base of the base, that’s what I’ve thought as a reader (but not a member) of it. Months ago, when I saw that Perry was falling apart on FR, that’s when his campaign totally collapsed.

Now it looks like Perry is back with FR. Soon he will start to move up elsewhere. Also, if Bachmann supporters decide to switch, Perry could be on top of polls in Iowa in days.

He’s now polling in Iowa at ~10%. I predict he wins Iowa with 45%.

No matter what their weaknesses are... and I am under no illusion... ALL of these candidates have problems... but none so grave as newt and romney. I would vote for any of the other three because newt and romney are just that darned bad. I will NEVER cast a vote for newt or romney... THAT is the difference.

Which he made clear was on Rudy's strong national security stance and that he would appoint strict constitutional conservatives to the courts. Rudy's record as a federal prosecutor is sound.
