Texas passed a veto proof bill in 2001 and Rick Perry signed it and stands by Texas' right to deal with the immigration problems the Federal government has left the states to pay for and deal with. Of all the candidates, Gov. Perry understands the border problem. It isn't a campaign talking point for him. He truly will seal the border, kill off the cartels and NO amnesty (just as he's been asking the Feds to get off their butts and do for years). More

Okay then, he signed a “veto proof” bill, but then will say we are heartless because we don’t pay for the education of the children of illegals? Most foreign exchange students, who are here legally, have their educations paid for by their home governments, endowments, etc... Why should we pay for them? Doesn’t that send a message to Mexicans that they can make life better for their children by first breaking/ignoring the laws of the US? Perry should definitely spend some time and money clarifying his stance on these issues or he will fail in his bid for the Presidency. 10th amendment issues are all over the place, including but not limited to illegal immigration, medical marijuana, etc... I think most conservatives believe strongly in states rights and the shrinking of the federal government. Why doesn’t Perry just say that? Sometimes the best defense is a good offense.
