It begins: Radio ad asks Iowans to caucus for Sarah Palin ("Vote rogue")

Iowans might feel a bit overwhelmed by the choices for next Tuesday’s Republican caucuses for the GOP presidential nomination, but one independent group has begun running radio ads insisting that there is still room for one more choice. Calling itself “Sarah Palin’s Iowa Earthquake,” the group will target specific markets in Iowa asking voters to line up behind the Republican Party’s most prominent non-candidate, and other ads will apparently follow:

Can Iowans caucus for Palin at this late date? Sure. Unlike primary states, there is no “ballot” in the legal sense at caucuses. Attendees can write in names on the list of candidates they receive at the caucuses, and those votes will count. Of course, without Palin on the ballot and not officially in the race, not too many caucus-goers may choose to vote for her. If enough are dissatisfied with the current choices, though, she might be a handy code for None of the Above — and might get some significant level of support if the ads prompt enough Iowa voters to consider this as an option.

If so, who does that hurt most? Probably not Mitt Romney, whose base of support doesn’t have a lot of overlap with Palin’s. Newt Gingrich rose in the polls mainly on Tea Party support, so he’d be likely to feel the sting a little more, especially for those who backed Gingrich because he looked like the only viable alternative to Romney or Ron Paul. Paul might lose a little of his more recent support, but he’s going to get hurt more over his old newsletters and the vetting of his foreign-policy kookiness. It may end up hurting the candidates in the second tier struggling for an Iowa miracle — Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann. That’s assuming, of course, that it has any impact at all.

Let’s take a look at all five. The first two spots focus on the need to clean up crony capitalism:

She doesn’t want to be POTUS. This will merely syphon off votes needed to defeat Romney.

I would send her an email and just ask her straight out, “If the people write you in would you follow their votes no matter where it went”?

I don’t think she EVER said she would deny the peoples wishes.

And I totally respect her for NOT playing the predictable standard politics game, changing the tactics shows leadership skills.

But you Palinisties just keep on with your love afair with a prety face and a skirt.

Such a shame that you can't get beyond that to see the substance.

Look, if governor Palin was a fiftyish year old man with the exact same credentials ,he would never be given a second look. If Mcain had not chosen her as his running mate we still wouldn’t have given her another look. Palin is all fluff and ruffle, she is pleasing to look at. Your judgement is impaired by her good looks if you are a man and if you are a woman you identify as a team mate. If she had the same credentials and looked like Helen Thomas, you wouldn’t give a second look. You are either inspired by her good looks or gender identification.

Yah, and Reagan got elected because people just loved Bonzo. Second rate actor... yada... yada...

We have a community agitator race pimp in the white hou... wait, Oahu, and you see fit to disparage any free speaking conservative? Damn, wish the gravity was as clean and clear here in Utah.

full disclosure: I'm dyslexic, but I have a spell checker in Firefox.

Heard the same garbage about Reagan. And are you saying that no one could vote for Maggie Thatcher? She doesn't look like Palin and I believe she won an election. Right?

You're the one stuck on her looks and can't get past them to see her substance.

And don't hand me any crap. You haven't even stated that you disagree with anything she's said. You harp on her looks. I'm sorry that you can't get past her "pretty face". But that's your problem. Don't project it onto others.

I understand the shame but I think the spelling is a hoot.
‘your love afair with a prety face’
I hope that these folk can control the passion of their hands and logically stoke their political fires. And perhaps give a click to the ‘spell’ function so helpfully provided for posters.
It would be great if a whole lot of conservative Iowans would write in(carefully and spelled correctly)Sarah Palin.

Yes, by all means, let us dilute our votes more. Let us add another write-in candidate and then push it in the media and on the internet. End result? Another 5% of the conservative vote gone down the drain and a yet higer probability of Romney walking away with the nomination.

If Palin was actually on the ticket, I would likely be working overtime for her. But she is not. She specifically decided NOT to run.

Don’t be foolish and cast a vote for someone who is not even asking for the job. This will not happen. There is not going to be some crazy groundswell for a write in victory. Be adult and choose from the list who stepped forward.

Santorum, Ron Paul, whatever even though I disagree with those choices immensely but don’t flush your vote completely down the drain with some delusion of a write-in miracle.

We MUST defeat Obama and the candidate MUST NOT be Romney.

Keep the goal in mind. We need to score a goal on this election or it’s over. As a team, we have to set a bar that we can all agreee on. If we all go off doing our own thing or boycotting the election, the Dems will all “as a team” vote for their guy. They only have one vote to cast. Obama. WE have to first choose a warrior to fight him.

Maybe you should send her some money.

She needs a new bus you know.

First off SP is no where close to being a Maggie Thatcher. RR also had a PROVEN governorship. And he never quit. SP is a great motivator, brings people together, but she is not a leader. She is the prety face that the Tea Party fell in love with and she jilted them. No, IMHO, she is NOT Presidential.

Iowa doesn’t have the best history of picking a winner.

The lamestream would go nuts if the girl pulled even a third place.

Lamestream in nuts mode is a good thing.

Alinsky the clowns.

Think.

Again with shallow points gleaned from the left.

State a stand that she has that you disagree with. All you can think about is her "pretty face". It's obvious that you know absolutely nothing about her BUT her "pretty face".

Projection. If all you see when you look at her is a pretty face and a skirt, you have a serious developmental problem. I’d vote for her based on her record even if she loooked like Helen Thomas.

I know she quit a job the people of Alaska asked her to do. I know she made millions when people thought she might be a candidate. She got out for whatever reasons she felt. Half way through a presidential term would she just quit because she couldn't handle it. And for what it is worth, many of her cheerleaders suppoted her for her looks and gender and half the guys on FR lusted to go to bed with her. Obama got elected by his people because of his looks, race and youth. I don't want another president elected to the presidency by that same criteria.
