He was pushing the story for political gain, and I think that is creepy.
I really hope he doesn’t let them (Romney/GOP machine) run him off. He’s got quite a bit of money and this is only the first round. Of course, if he gives in that easily, guess it’s better to know that now. I just think he’s a really good guy and his oratory has gotten better and better.
I’m rooting for Newt as well. Wouldn’t it just be the worst nightmare if it came down to Romney and RuPaul???
I don’t think Perry is resigning.... this is a strange moment.
I’m going to wait for his camp to spell it out.
My guess from inconsistent watching of the campaigns is that Santorum’s surge resulted from his outstanding one-to-one rapport with the voters. Perry is the better speaker. But I think Iowans might be one-to-one kind of people and Santorum very likable in that kind of setting.
This strength will diminish as the electorate gets wider, in the states where there are many more voters in the primary than there were in the caucuses and of course nationally.

I’m wondering....do you really think it’s the Christian, charitable thing to behave as you’re doing? If you aren’t Christian, heck, is it SEEMLY? I can’t imagine why a conservative would take such glee in kicking other conservatives when they are down.
Also, you should probably not count your chickens before they’re hatched and assume you won’t be in our shoes in the future. Santorum is my second choice, but I have serious doubts as to whether he can go the long haul. Just saying, you know?
I’d say Santorum has a good chance to become president. He pretty clean as far as I can tell. Everyone says he has to beat Obama in a debate but really all he has to do is dodge Obama’s attacks. No one is listening to Obama anymore.
He was supposed to go to SC tomorrow.

I think you see yourself in the Perry supporters. And you don’t seem to like what you see.

I’d think so, wouldn’t you? Santorum’s just a flash in the pan, but I’d bet there are many of us who’re fans of both Perry and Newt, for different reasons.
Would hate to see our choices narrowing so soon.
I believe I was the first person to defend Santorum over the matter on FR.
But his dredging it up in a campaign speech victory is very odd.
I did not bring it up.
HE DID.
Perry screwed it up with the heartless comment. Plain and simple.
I and many others like me will not have some supporter of some one who is in this country illegally and breaking our laws call us heartless and get our support.
I defended Santorum on the story, saying that it was a very “personal matter”.
He is the one trotting it out in a victory speech.
You really sound like a single-issue voter, with that issue being the word ‘heartless’ from Perry.
Why else would you focus solely on that to the exclusion of every other single thing in all of existance?

A little different. Perry fans did not have any bragging rights. The Santorum supporters do.
You seem to miss the whole point about the comment.
He called citizens of this country heartless in support of people who should not even be here..people who should be dragged out into the streets and thrown into trucks or any other mod of transportation and kicked the hell out of here or thrown into jail and left to rot.
