Santorum (Still) Takes the Cake in Iowa

“Game on.” That was the opening statement from a somewhat vindicated and jubilant Rick Santorum. Santorum found himself at the end of an incredible journey; a journey that included all of Iowa’s ninety-nine counties, three hundred and eighty-one town hall meetings. The finish line showed Santorum losing Iowa by a mere eight votes but most would conclude that Rick Santorum was the big winner.

There may be more than three tickets leaving Iowa but quite a few are going to miss the plane. Rick Perry finished in a disappointing fifth place behind Newt Gingrich, who also experienced some difficulties in the Hawkeye State. Gingrich finished fourth, pulling just fourteen percent of the vote. Also taking their place in the loser column is Michele Bachmann, who had a surprisingly disappointing showing in her former home state, capturing only five percent of the vote.

Although all the candidates put on their positive face while under the lights, the rumors are already flying. Rick Perry is said to be returning to Austin to review his candidacy and most believe that Michele Bachmann could potentially drop her bid in the coming weeks and almost certainly after New Hampshire where she isn’t expected to have much of a showing.

I admire Rick Santorum and have supported him with campaign contributions in the past, but I'm afraid that he lacks the SOB factor that is necessary to deal with the racist/socialist Chicago organization now in the act of destroying our Constitution and Republic. I don't want conservatives to just win the Presidency and both houses, I want them to attain/maintain effective control.

I will have to research Ricks stand:
on immigration - what steps he will take to control,
Federal Involvement with the US Citizen private lives,
current tax-codes and his openess to change of the codes (to simplify);
his views on Fedral spending and his actions (where)he would take the spending cuts;
his views on apparent dangers of Sharia (Islam) - has he educated himself at all on the subject? etc..

OT - I just listened to Bachman address on Fox. I gained a lot of RESPECT for her after hearing her remarks. I hope SHE is part of the new administration cabinet..

I'm sure you are aware of the McCainified GOP and the effects thereof from 2008, right? Conservatives overslept on election day for lack of enthusiasm for a retreaded moderate.

We may see a splash of the same thing if we end up having to again hold our nose and vote (in this case for Romney).

I am hoping the Tea Party Conservative support all goes to Santorum. That will shorten the primary process and hopefully get more funding to Santorum for the GE. I personally was pulling for Cain. But I'll vote for whoever the GOP runner is in the GE. However, to your point....

Romney is a finger in the wind guy. Like McCain, he'll pander to whatever the general public seems to favor following heavy doses of media propaganda and attack. Romney will stop golfing every other week when the NYT covers his vacation days and golfing pleasure on the front page above the fold for two straight weeks.

His finger in the wind will erode GOP support as TPCs once again go the polls to clean house. I expect, if Romney is elected, he too will be a 4-year president. Then we get to see how an aging Hillary will do. Look me up in Australia if that day comes. :o)

My thoughts exactly. Now that I am supporting the guy. I should go out and learn something about him.

(Man is that screwed up)

I don’t like Bachmann and I am glad she’s gone.

While her beliefs are consistent with mine, it’s the way she plays the game that has completely turned me off.

Having said all of that, I too watched her parting speech.... it was remarkable.

Her parting words were incredibly well said and done with conviction and grace. There were places in her speech where she actually sounded presidential. Had she been this way throughout her campaign, I believe she would have placed much higher and she could have gone on.

Unlike many on FR, Rick Santorum fails to impress me as a potential president, although I think he is a good man.

I also believe that Santorum’s rise will soon fall.

GO NEWT GO...........
