To be fair, wasn't it a 'forced early labor'? That may not be a technical 'abortion', but the effective outcome was the same.

So I have to ask—for sake of evaluating the consistency of Rick Santorum's positions on life—is this an exception he would allow others to pursue?

GEEEezus H Keeerist, a D&C is not an abortion and no one needs an exception to have one.

Santorum is standing in a crap storm because he is getting ready to lead in the Republican race.

No wonder decent people don’t want to run for President.

There is no inconsistency.

Her temp shot up to 105 - she went into labor.
Pitocin was administered to speed up labor.

Prolifers do not believe a mother has to die - despite what pro-choicers say.

Under Catholic teaching around medical ethics, a woman is not required to deny treatment that might indirectly effect the child.

For example. A pregnant woman with cancer may get chemotherapy. An expectant mother with a life threatening infection may take antibiotics.

What is an abject evil is to terminate the pregnancy directly.
