Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent on:

Anchor babies, illegals, new immigrants, and their respective extended families,
 (illegals alone cost $1/4 - $1/3 trillion NET per year;
This 2010 study shows the NET cost of illegal aliens = $113 billion. It is based upon the totally out dated number of 15 million illegals. The actual number is at least between 30 and 40 million. Hence the net cost = between 1/4 and 1/3 trillion per year. On page 4 there is a break down by state.

 Low skill immigrants cost ~$ 20,000 Net per household [4,550,000 households in 2007])
This 2007 study show a NET cost of $19,588 per low wage immigrant household for a total of 4,550,000 households. Annual total = ~ $9.1 Billion.
