Of those standing, only Santorum is electable in the general election.

For someone that seems to lean on polls... how do you explain the present poll numbers for the 'only electable' Santorum?

Agree. Santorum is not electable in the general election. If the general becomes focused on social issues as it would with Santorum, the middle, and they exist, will flee from our side as fast as they can. Santorum will scare the s**t out of them. I wish it wasn’t so,I like Santorum personally, but reality tells me otherwise. As for Gingrich, the focus will become Newt and all his baggage. Since Newt is a bit of an egomaniac he will play right into the trap, since the issue will become his favorite subject, Newt. So reality tells me he will also go down in flames in the general. The middle will be repulsed by him like its 1999. As for Paul, no explanation is needed. If Obama faced Paul he would get lots of chances to get 18 in. That leaves one standing, Romney. Is he what everybody says he is, in a negative sense, sure. But he gives us the best chance to get us over 50%. Hell, he has a good chance of winning this. I can see the apolitical middle, those secret Obama voters of 08, easily pulling the lever for Romney, but not for the other three. Do I wish a more conservative candidate with a great record and charisma were our nominee, your damn right, but he or she never entered the race, or maybe even exists. If we lose this one, the next ones will not matter so much.
