Even the National Review is asking questions about this attack ad.

On Ethics Charges, ‘Gingrich Was Exonerated’ "Mitt Romney has been attacking Newt Gingrich for alleged ethics violations during his tenure as speaker of the House. But as Byron York writes, the Gingrich ethics scandal was a product of vindictive partisan politics, it was inflamed by a complicit press corps, and it resulted (with little press coverage) in the Clinton-era IRS’s exoneration of Gingrich."......

Now the Romney camp is demanding all the raw files be released (everything else is public record) -- unsubstantiated interviews that are NEVER released -- and Mitt Romney knows this.

My feeling is that Rubio (who officially decided not to endorse) is really a Romney supporter-and a RINO (for this and other positions).

I'm not sure how it will play tactically, but on a longer time horizon, I think Romney's use of that NBC footage will do damage to whatever credibility NBC and Romney have left after lying for years.

Here's Brokaw, in 1997, propagandizing or politicizing current events that are later shown to be trumped up. So, why should people believe today's news, when time may well show it to be trumped up?

And Romney is rejecting NBC's request - how thoughtful and gracious (NOT) of him.

The ad that Newt pulled was on the subject of immigration, and I noticed that during the last debate he stuck by the contention made in the ad. No harm in pulling it, and he likely thought Rubio was a source of good tactical advice - especially on that subject.

On the subject of Newt's 1997 record, Rubio is a total outsider, and should keep his yap shut. Let Romney hang himself.

Just did. Let us all hold Rubio accountable - is he really fair? Or is he a closet Romney supporter (too chicken to publicly aknowledge it to be on the safe side?)

Why would he? He asked Newt to pull his ad because it was a lie. Newt had ethics problems and the Brokaw story was accurate. Now Brokaw was having orgasims at the time because he had Newt dead to rights but he now doesn’t want the one guy who can beat Obama to use his tape. Too bad Tom. You and the rest of the Obama lovers won’t get this ad pulled!

If Romney loses, maybe we can let Rubio, Fox news, Drudge, Limbaugh and all other former conservative Romney supporters off the hook. But we should never think of them as honest conservatives.

If Romney doesn’t lose (gag), I say they all should pay with total loss of their Tea Party audience.

When small r republicans join democrats and their media against one of OUR own candidates, it should be obvious that they fear that ‘business as usual’ is in peril.

They have learned to be ‘comfortable’ with the system just as it is and they will resist change because of their fear of the ‘enlightened movement’ of people.

Capitulation is easy, Resistance takes raw courage.
