As long as the citizenry is armed, we have a chance. For a little while anyway. Unfortunately it's your neighbors you have to be wary of. Can you trust them? Completely?
Yes, I'm being serious.

More than I trust much of my own family. I live in a tiny town where we really know our neighbors and rely on each other as a matter of instinct. My closest neighbor and I are co-preppers.

An excellent post and the comparisons are more than sobering, they are horrifying.
There is yet one more comparison between Nazi Germany and the emerging Nazi American State, and that is the hope that at some future point, among America's armed forces who still take their oaths seriously, to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and we will discover our very own Lieutenant Colonel von Stauffenberg and when he succeeds where his namesake failed, he will be lauded as great a man as George Washington himself.

The more I read about the use of ‘cultural marxism’ instead of a frontal assault on the US, the more I realize how insidious and successful it has been in chipping away our traditional morals and culture. The enemy within has been very patient and cleverly crafted a set of lies for both the ‘right’ and the ‘left’.

Years ago a friend of mine gave me the book “The Ominous Parallels” by Leonard Peikoff. This is a must read if you like this thread.

Thanks, and I’m not even a constitutional law professor, like your last two democrat presidents. Isn’t that ironic?

obama is doing what more than 40% of the people want. And it won’t be that hard to get aother 10%. Just make sure they’re totally dependend on their dear leader.

IMHO this is partially the result of cultural marxism, aided by flooding the country with illegals and new immigrants who come here because our big government gives out better freebies than their big government.

Nazis, commies.....not much difference. Hillary and Obama are big time followers of Sol Alinsky.

I agree that the characteristics of Nazi Germany began much before Hitler. Many do go back to Bismarck, father of the modern social welfare state.
But the comparison of the modern US to Nazi Germany is no less valid because of that. The history of the governmental changes just shows how easy it is to slip from “benign” social welfare statism to totalitarianism.
Put another way, how easy it is to turn the heat on to “boil” once you have the frogs used to warm water.

Germany took several decades, and even WWI didn't kick them over the edge.
Weimar attitudes and Weimar politics did the job.

Now that you mention it, there might be some similarities between Weimar attitudes and Weimar politics right here, right now, too.

Absolutely. If you'd had Obama or the Algore or any number of other Democrat big dogs running Weimar no one would know the difference.
Your whole abortion rights crowd are definitely Weimar, and look at the states with euthenasia ~ Oregon, Washington, .....
Libertarianism is pretty close to it as well.
I think in the end we will need to do some quite drastic things to destroy this political disease that destroys countries. Europeans would be wise to restart the process of getting rid of this same approach. Fur Shur, their new Islamic masters won't put up with it ~
