I respect your assessment of RS, and I would hope that you are right and that I am wrong.
Yes, he has a decent, and by decent, I mean “NOT GREAT” ACU rating, but beyond that, those ratings don’t measure success or accomplishments on these issues. It’s just a check box. I just don’t think RS can lead any kind of real needed change, even though he would perhaps believe most of the right things.
Talent matters.
I do not think RS has the same capacity to do the battle, but I do believe he has some solid strengths, connects to blue collar dems, does well with other demographics Newt does not do so well with.
I would not hesitate to support him if he wins, and think he will run a strong campaign if he does. I simply think Newt would be better as a campaigner, and much better as a president. Obama will demagogue the Hell out of either one of them (both have different kinds of baggage), and both will fight back. Newt is better at fighting back, IMHO. It's a shame that the scorched earth Romney tactic has brought him so low, I hope he can recover with super Tuesday. I do believe they need to tag team Mitt, or Mitt will win.
