Sure.

The Selective Service is our military draft system. All males must register with the SS after they turn 18 - unless you join the military.

You can go to jail, or be subject to a large fine (I think up to $250k), if you do not register with the SS.

The government rarely charges people for not registering. But what they have done is passed a bunch of laws that if you fail to register you don't have access to certain government programs, like student loans - you also are not eligible for employment in the federal government.
