A month’s worth will permit me to sort out the situation and bug out in an orderly manner to where land is available for people to grow their own - or hunt it for that matter. But food storage isn’t just for TEOTWAWKI - there are plenty of other ‘lesser’ disasters that have a probability of occurring that a month’s supply is more than adequate. You can go to a gov’t run shelter blam - I will be able to avoid it.
