Santorum: I'll beat Romney if Gingrich drops out
THE EXAMINER ^ | MARCH 4, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 03/05/2012 11:27:54 AM PST by onyx

~snips~ Rick Santorum indicated that Newt Gingrich should drop out of the presidential race, arguing -- as Gingrich did during his surge -- that splitting the "anti-Romney" vote helped Mitt Romney win the Michigan primary and Washington caucuses and contributes to his overall success so far.

Gingrich said after his South Carolina victory that Santorum should drop out before the Florida primary, but Santorum refused and now Gingrich is returning the favor. "I'm taking Rick Santorum's advice," Gingrich told CNN's Candy Crowley this morning. "He stayed in, he was running fourth in every single primary, suddenly he very cleverly went to three states nobody else went to, and he became the media darling and bounced back."

You know what, my friend?

Rick's RIGHT! Willard would have lost Michigan without Newt's help (by being on the ballot and therefore bleeding off some conservatives.)

Yeah and I would win in a landslide if I was running unopposed. Little Ricky can’t cut the mustard in states that actually award committed delegates so now he is whining about everyone getting out of the race so he doesn’t have any competition. If he is such a great candidate he should be able to pound Newt and Mitt into the ground.

And Newt could win GA with more than 50% of the vote and probably win OK and TN if little Ricky would step aside. Little Ricky lost MI because he couldn’t get enough democrats to vote for him and because people have started to learn more about him. Newt didn’t even run in MI for all intents and purposes and he still couldn’t seal the deal. What a whiner.

I pulled the lever for Rick in Michigan to stop Mitt but in my gut I wanted to go for Newt.

I gave what I could, but as George Bush said about Obama, He ain't got the chops for the Gig.

He still couldn't get it done, and he may not in Ohio either.

With that said I't Newt or a write in for me in the general as a former MA resident I know what a Socialist Kabutz MA is and how Romney did stop any of it.

I pray that the Newtster makes a comeback tommorrow greater than planned and goes on to win the next two states and then on to California.

-—— I’d like to see the ‘vice versa’-——

I’d be delighted with either one, because Obama’s done. Now’s our chance to get a conservative in.

I think Santorum will win TN and OK with Newt about 3rd.

We’ll see tomorrow.

As long as the Presidency could be won with tiny caucuses of niche voters, RS could be President. As for turning out large numbers? Not shown yet.

The problem with what you did is that the not so brilliant RS supporters are using votes like yours as proof their man is beloved and can win in big states.

As we now know, many many of RS votes in Michigan and Missouri were really Newt votes.

Well, there’s truth to this...and vice versa.

Romney has won the last five primaries/caucuses straight since Santorum’s 3 sweep on Feb 7th.

That’s Main, Wyoming, Michigan, Arizona, and Washington.

But in two of those states, Wyoming and Michigan, Santorum would have won if Newt’s vote had been added to his.

The combined vote would not have been enough in Florida or Nevada either, but if Santorum and Newt’s votes were together, right now the delegate count would be almost even, and I believe after Super Tuesday, the single conservative candidate would pull ahead of Romney.
