Santorum nor his supporters have any idea the number of Newt supporters Rick pizzed off with his disingenuous rewriting of Newt's history as Speaker.

I Newt drops out he will not endorse and a great many of his supporters will sit out until the general. Santo will be on his own. Good luck with that, Rick.

A Santorum supporter that’s accused Gingrich supporters of hating their candidate/being for Romney/being paid by Romney on multiple threads in the past two days asking for civility.

Rich.

Yes he does...but the fact remains that the two of them have to find a way to come together. Combined, I believe one or the other of them, if they openly announced throwing in behind the other in full support, have the chance to stop Romney and potentially win the nomination outright.

Otherwise, Romney has that chance...and probably, even if it goes to the convention, Romney ends up with the better chance unless at that point Newt and Rick have a majority between them.

I believe the best chance of a stronger conservative nominee is for the two to get togewther, after Super Tuesday, ratiaonlly and without emotion or ire, look at the map and the current state of things in terms of delegates and momentum, and make a call.

Now, in any case I have already decided to support the GOP nominee against Obama. I beliegve any of them, even Romney, would be an order of magnitude better for the country than the marxist Obama. But I certainly prefer the most conservative candidate we can get and will be voting that way tomorrow here in Idaho.

[BUT there’s 6.5% who just DON’T GET IT! And maybe sadly never will.]

LOL! I don’t know how you came up with that number in the first place, but you should not talk about yourself like that!

Well Mr. Crybaby Santorum...that works both ways.

Santorum has already shot his wad over the contraception, and other social issues. He will never defeat obama, even if he does get the nomination (which I doubt).

While it's true that both the left, and the GOPe are pushing hard for Romney, a large segment of the voters aren't.

Romney and Santorum have spent the better part of the campaign season trying to convince themselves, and us, that they are "the most conservative"...right when Newt has been a conservative since the beginning...and everyone knows it.

The GOPe can't control Newt, and the left know's he'll give obama a sound whooping in November if he gets the nomination, which is why they're pulling out all the stop to prevent it from happening.

I've watched Romney and Santorum get as nervous as sophmores in a school play everytime they are hit with a semi-tough question. Romney stutters and Santorum just grins...right before he gets testy.

Newt has spent less on attack ads than either Romney or Santorum, yet the left labels him "the meanest man in America". Let me be clear (to borrow obama's over-used expression) with what obama has done to the people of this nation, no one...NO ONE has earned the "meanest man" title more than obama

NEWTS FUTURE, NEWTS FUTURE FOR AMERIA

Onyx, Santorum did not say what the headline implies. This has been posted several times, and it does not advance the cause. Here is what he said, from the article.

"Santorum stopped short of calling for Gingrich to exit the race, but he noted that their combined support would defeat Romney. "In Michigan, we would have won easily had those two votes been combined," he told Chris Wallace."

He was speculating, and he was accurately stating facts. The same would likely be true if you substitute Gingrich for Santorum in the above article.

If he is such a great candidate he should be able to pound Rick and Mitt into the ground.

WOrks both ways pall.

....but he noted that their combined support would defeat Romney. "In Michigan, we would have won easily had those two votes been combined," he told Chris Wallace." He was speculating, and he was accurately stating facts.

Technically, that is accurate. It's also technically accurate to say that Romney's and Gingrich's combined votes would have beaten Santorum. And that Paul's and Romney's combined votes would have beaten the combination of Gingrich and Romney. You can do lots of things with numbers, but the question is whether the assumptions underlying the numbers are accurate. That's where Santorum and his supporters are falling down.

I'd suggest that assuming all of Gingrich's votes would go to Santorum if Newt dropped is false. I also suspect that if Paul or Romney dropped, the most unlikely recipient of their votes would be Santorum.

If Newt can't beat Romney on his own accord, how is he going to beat Obama?

Can we please stop the self destruction of the Conservatives in the race?

I have an intellectual explanation for why Newt has not sided with Santorum. Mainly because Newt knows Santorum all too well, having worked with him before.

If Santorum is as smart or competent as you insinuate, as well as cares so deeply about his country, then he would drop his entire campaign now, and Get behind the master Statesman immediately, like Rick Perry did months ago.

You see FRiend, Newt knows who and what Santorum is, but more so, what would happen in the general against Obama, with Santorum as the nominee. And especially if Santorum were to win the election.

Which further leads to why Newt is determined to stay in. He truly loves his country and knows his plan is what it will take to fix this disaster.

Skip that Rick. Wishful thinking. Stop throwing salt over yer shoulder and tossing pennies in a well.

Hope is not a strategy.

if Gingrich drops out, there wouldn’t be a conservative economic solution in the running.

You're right, and thank God, he's not dropping out.

God bless Newt Gingrich and his steadfast supporters, he's going all the way to the convention!

In fact, he hinted, that he plans to re-fight old primaries and caucuses at the county convention level, campaigning for delegates that are not legally required to vote for the candidate selected in the popular vote. GO NEWT!

Please do not forget that Newt never asked Rick to quit. He was only responding to a question in an interview.

Santorum, on the other hand...

I readily admit that I don’t cotton to lawyer politicians. Congress already has too many and I certainly don’t want a lawyer president. Show me a lawyer politician and I’ll show you a grand scale liar who’s been on both sides but can convince alot of people he’s always been on one side.
