Translation of the breaking news from one of Northern Europe's leading papers:
"The new Apple surf pad is not going to work within the range and demands provided by the extremely swift Scandinavian 4G presently being launched in the Nordic Countries."
SO the Eurotards are out of luck, huh?
Is this “extremely high-end 4G” thing the same as what Sprint or Verizon provides in the US? If so, this is more a compatibility issue than hardware being obsolete.
What’s that going to effect like 6 or 7 customers.
So it’s Apple’s fault that they are deploying a standard that Apple is adopting for 4G that also happens to be the same 4G LTE standards the majority of the world’s providers are adopting??
Not Apple’s fault.
Being all things to all people is not a good business strategy.
Dere’s Norway Apple should get away wid dis. Dey’ll just have to lower de price over dere. Sweden de deal. Denmark dem down some more. Give dem an upgrade or take de useless Stockholm to America. Unless dey don’t care about Oslo connection.
Wow. That’s amazing news.

Get updated, I personally don’t wish to intimidate America, but these news are not exactly good for those who still believe in Silicon Valley.
Don’t worry too much. Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Reykavijk and Helsinki are a corners of the World which believes in Capitalism and Western spirit.
We have dealt with the likes of Stalin as well as Hitler and know how to distinguish between what, morally, is the difference between right and wrong.
Trust Vikings and Finns. We don’t complain out of malice.
We’ll fix Apple for ya.
Sven and Bjorn being the enterprising sort will attach a coat hanger to their iPads and make it work.
Yes. Your neutrality really kicked their butts.
—Not Apples fault.—
If a guy runs a red light and T-bones my car, it’s not my fault.
I still look both ways though. It actually prevented an accident once...
Methinks you have something there. If I’m not mistaken, we’ve prematurely adopted a 4G standard that’s still in gestation. If indeed the IPAD won’t connect over there, Apple will soon have one that will.
In any case, I (and a lot of tech writers) have already realized and stated that IPAD 3 - if actually downloading data at 4G speeds - will only take a few tens of minutes to exhaust the entire monthly allotment of bits for most folks.
Analogy not really a valid comparison.
It is NOT Apple’s fault the Scandinavian providers are not adopting the same LTE 4G technology the rest of the world is/will be adopting that Apple is making hardware to support.
If people start using this to watch downloaded movies on HD, it’s really going to put a huge strain on the system.
LOL, updated to what? I can run a super-duper-high-speed wireless network between the machines in my basement, but that does not mean much when the rest of the world isn’t connected to it. At least in the case of the iPad and Sweden’s exotic network.
I don’t know how Swedish companies are performing, but Apple currently sits on multi-dozen billion dollars in CASH, with them having little clue about what to do with all that money. Ping me when a Swedish company comes close to matching what Apple has achieved.
“4G” is not the unified world standard most assume it is. It’s a popular moniker amounting to “wireless networking a lot faster than 3G”. LTE is a standard, albeit an emerging one; if the 4G coverage in question doesn’t include LTE or the final version thereof, SOL. Building one device which works worldwide is far from a sure thing.
