Liberalism is often simply a way to justify a personal vice. This is an iron law among intellectuals. See Paul Johnson’s book, “Intellectuals,” or E. Michael Jones’, “Degenerate Moderns.”
Among individuals, this is also true. But in my personal interaction with liberals, I’ve also noticed “security liberals,” mainly single or divorced mothers, and traditional Democrats, like Massachusetts Catholic “Kennedy” Democrats.
It’s hard to get inside their heads, because they’re rarely coherent. And I’ve often encountered what I call “stopthink,” where, when headed toward a logical, but unwanted conclusion, liberals will bug-out of an argument.

At the root of colectivism (whatever you want to call it) is first the denial of God and then believing satan’s oldest lie speaking of eating of the fruit; “you shall be like God, knowing good and evil”. The elites consider themselves God and it is their calling to change mankind into their image.
Thank you for the references. Some folks really believe democrats are better for the economy and their security—I hear that.
I will never understand that. I will never understand how they can’t see te cost of everyting goes up—not only because of supply and demand which is fair, but mostly because of liberal special interest groups—trial lawyers, the environmental cult, job security for bureaucrats, and of course, the voter block of the recipient class who could care less about anyone but their own little world of pizza and TV.
