Inside a brokered Convention: ‘Brokered’ GOP convention? Get ready, say political strategists
The Daily Caller ^ | Mar. 13th, 2012 | Will Rahn

"Much of the maneuvering would come down to fights over arcane bits of parliamentary procedure because state parties, not the national GOP, are the ones who really hold the power at brokered conventions. Each state party operates under a different set of voting rules, and each campaign’s ability to understand which state’s delegation can do what — and when — could be a deciding factor.“Every state is different. Some states, you vote for the candidate to whom you were pledged in perpetuity. Others, you’re released after the first ballot; others, you’re released after the second ballot; others you’re released after the third ballot,”... National Committee’s wishes, he said, would be “utterly, completely irrelevant.” ....“They can’t even buy a hot dog,” ...

Are you well-known enough to win election? Uncommitted delegates have an uphill struggle.

Whoever we have at a brokered convention

Paul Ryan needs to be on the ticket.

Ryan/Gingrich

Ryan/Rommney

Ryan/Perry (my personal favorite)

These are combos that can win the race and give gravitas to the ticket

We need young, intellegent and well-spoken. He is an economist and understands the way to start the economy.

And we need to pound THE ECONOMY! THE ECONOMY! THE ECONOMY!

I think I am well known enough. I'm on the WV State Republican Executive Committee. I've also ran for both the State Senate and the State House of Delegates - I lost every time because I am a Republican, but every time I did better than the party breakdown by percentages.

The other reason I may get a win is that I am running for one of the three seats in the First Congressional District. There are a total of 28 people running for those three seats. Eight are committed to Romney. Two are committed to Santorum. Ten are committed to Gingrich, three to Paul, and the other six are uncommitted.

Ron Paul is an "Also Ran". The biggest competition I have are the two committed to Santorum. With Gingrich's recent failings I'd bet that most folks will want to vote for either a delegate supporting Santorum or Uncommitted. I don't believe that we country folks would support Romney....especially after all of his backstabbing efforts against his conservative opponents. We're not real fond of mud slingers. (As an aside, I'd almost bet that Romney was the one who stabbed Herman Cain in the back with the floozie attacks.)

Bottom line, Romney had better hope that I don't get to go to Tampa and be the deciding vote.
